We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Barry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what are you inspired by?
What inspires me about being part of C.A.S.T for Kids is we get to take 40 disabled and disadvantaged kids fishing and give them an amazing and fun day outdoors.

It is so inspirational to see the happiness on the kids faces, and the community come together to make this event happen knowing everyone is there for the same purpose of helping others, giving back, and enjoying life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My day to day job I work in International Finance and Marketing. I have been in banking for 23 years and pushed my self every day, in every role, and continued to set and re-evaluate the goals I had for my career path. Its not easy to grow and be as successful as you intend to be, but it is possible with time, hard work, and support. With any challenging situation I have faced I just had to remind myself to keep pushing and moving forward, it’s hard to do but giving up is harder. When you push yourself and overcome challenges it is so rewarding and you learn a lot about yourself along the way. All of these traits have helped me so much in my role at C.A.S.T for

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to explore and be outdoors, so I would take someone to the mountains. My favorite place to go is Glenwood HotSprings. Then go for a hike to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Springs and also Golden Gate Canyon. Do some fishing if they shared that interest. Of course eating always has to be on the itinerary, Hungry Goat in Morrison is a great place, some Sushi, and check out some local breweries. Colorado has so much to offer, so a good concert at Red Rocks, local shopping, farmers markets, and just creating fun memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize Mr. Bill Wilson for starting C.A.S.T for Kids in Colorado 27 years ago, and giving me the opportunity to be part of it. Also, to his wife Jenny for everything she does and her support. To the amazing team of volunteers we have by our side, year after year, helping us make this event special.
