Meet Jessica Gildea | Director of Marketing & Social Media

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Gildea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our bags were created out a desire to keep our gear germ free. Our founder, Lori Gildea, grew terribly ill after she tracked germs from the gym, onto her gym bag, and into her body. After a 3 month recovery, she scoured the internet for a bag that would protect her gear and her, from germs. Coming up empty-handed, she decided to create her own bag. From there, ThePureBag was born! Our antimicrobial products include bags, facemasks, and accessories for everyday, work, school and travel. We are a family + women-owned business, made in the USA, and we give back to Clean Ocean Action.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community? What are you excited about and most proud of?
I am proud of how we alchemized a negative situation into a positive one! I am so grateful that we landed on the Today Show and now are in talks with a major departments store so keep an eye out!   I have been an entrepreneur since I was a child and so this felt like a natural fit to slide into a Marketing roll – ROLE**    We offer an antimicrobial product line for everyday, work, school and travel. We would not be here if my mom, our founder, did not endure a dangerous sickness. ThePureBag exists to prevent others from enduring that same fate* we are able to help protect others from the same fate!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the RINO art district. This area is so up and coming, you’ll be sure to experience something unique here that you may not have seen elsewhere. From the murals and art work scattered around the neighborhood, to the cute boutique stores and amazing restaurants, RINO has something for everyone. I particularly like The Central Market, and Osaka Ramen!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lori Gildea, my mom and founder of ThePureBag is not only an amazing and supportive mother, but a wonderful mentor and inspiration to me. She developed a genius idea and carried it through to production. These products are unique as they are beneficial, helping others to stay safe and germ free.
