Meet Jesus Vasquez Jr | Athlete, Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesus Vasquez Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesus, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to be remembered as, not only as an entertainer but a person who cared & gave the best he could. A role mode, and a hell of a father. By cared I mean, I cared for the world, I cared for my people the Hispanic/Latinos, my family and people who grew up like me with nothing. That’s why I fight, I don’t fight for me anymore. I think I would be retired if it was for me, I would want to be remembered as the greatest of all time but it’s bigger than that. I fight to make a difference. One day I’ll have a voice, I’ll be able to stand up & make difference. This world is broken, and it’s up to us to clean it up. I don’t my think about my legacy that much, I just want to be happy and enjoy the time I still have while I’m here.

Tell us more about your work?
Im a professional athlete (Boxer) been a professional for 5 years now. Still climbing the pro ranks to get a chance to fight for a world championship some day. I have a fight scheduled for December of 2022 so stay tuned for more details very soon!
What sets me apart from others?
As a boxer people think that I’m supposed to be this angry, mean, tough guy. I’m here to change the perspective. As boxers the people will love you more when you’re being yourself. Im not afraid to be my self to the fullest, who I feel like on the inside without being worried about others opinions. Tik Tok taught me a lot! I got on there and posted whatever just being myself and my fan base grew tremendously. Im a free thinker, free creator, im in my own world. I’ll be mean when I have to, in the ring.
What do you want the world to know about your brand?
My brand Is be yourself. There’s never going to be another YOU in this lifetime so might as well go and show the world who it is that YOU are. Don’t be controlled by people and opinions. You go and be YOU & very unapologetically.
What are you most proud & excited about?
Im most proud of being not only a father, but a great father. Im excited to raise my daughter to be an amazing person & help with her dreams. Im also excited to see how far I can go when I don’t give up on my own dreams. I have a lot left in the tank, I’m excited for the world to see the next half of my career. I feel like Kobe when he switched form number 8 to number 24. Smarter, stronger, more experienced & ready to take the next step to win a championship.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would totally run out of time. We’re definitely hitting up different coffee shops every morning. It’s October so we are definitely going to the mountains to watch fall happen. Rocky Mountain national park, Glenwood canyon, Boulder, Aspen, telluride. We are eating Arepas at Avanti & hopefully catch a Rockies, Broncos, or pre season nuggets game!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My childhood club Denver Police brotherhood. They are the reason I’m here, they gave me a place to train free of charge and gave me an opportunity. Not only that they believed in me. My father Jesus SR found this gym because of its program that was free for the youth to help keep us out of the streets. They immediately saw how dedicated and hard working I was, so they invited me to start competing in tournaments and that’s when I started my amateur career. I won 158 fights and won 4 national titles with them. They sponsored my entire amateur career, I didn’t have to pay a dime out of my pocket. I traveled all over the US and different countries to fight under this gym. Former policemen now director CC Edwards and former detective now head coach Leroy Miller always believed in me, so much that they are still a part of my team even now in my professional career. Leroy Miller who is still my head coach also deserves a lot of props because he puts just as much amount of work as I do behind the scenes. Loyalty just runs in my blood, i started with these guys and I plan on finishing with them. I couldn’t have done it without them and I just want to give them credit when it’s due. I would like to give them a shoutout. Thank you so much for all that you did for me, I appreciate you so much and I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you! We are not done yet, jobs not finished!
