We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Curley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Rohr Coffee’s success is rooted in the strength and spirit of the Patty Jewett and Colorado Springs community. We’ve always believed that our purpose goes beyond serving great coffee, it’s about lifting up everyone who walks through our doors. That commitment to connection, inclusivity, and mutual support is what drives us every day. We’re incredibly fortunate to be part of a community that not only shows up for us, but allows us to hold space for them in return.

We chose the hippo to represent our brand because it stands for everything we believe in, quiet resilience, grounded strength, and the kind of community that holds each other up. Hippos don’t chase the spotlight, because they don’t need to. They move with quiet purpose, grounded in who they are.
They protect their own, stand firm in the face of challenge, and thrive through connection. That’s the spirit we pour into every cup: strength without noise, care without condition, and a deep belief that community is everything. When people see our hippo, they should know this:
It’s not just a logo.
It’s a love letter to the strong, the steady, the resilient, the quietly unstoppable. It’s a symbol of what happens when we choose community over competition, and compassion over ego.

We bring more value to our brand because we have chosen to source as many of our supplies as possible from local small businesses, which not only sets us apart in our offerings but also allows us to invest directly in the community that supports us. As we grow, the challenge we have set for ourselves is—how many people can we bring with us? We have found success because we have partnered with like-minded small business owners, who take pride in their brand and share the same love for community, connection, and inclusivity that we do, we’re better together and ROHR Coffee stands as a strong example of that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been built on helping small businesses grow, often behind the scenes, often without recognition, and often while sacrificing my own work-life balance. For years, I was the only woman in the room, navigating male-dominated industries where I was expected to stay quiet. But I didn’t. I learned to speak up, to stand firm, and to lead with resilience. Those experiences shaped me deeply. They taught me how to build, how to endure, and most importantly, how to believe in the power of lifting others up.

That’s what led me to ROHR Coffee. After years of building for others, I wanted to build something different—something rooted in community, connection, and inclusivity. I wanted to create a space where people feel seen, valued, and supported. Our success isn’t just measured in cups served, it’s in the relationships we’ve built and the lives we’ve touched. We source from local small businesses because we believe in growing together. And as we grow, our mission is simple: how many people can we bring with us? I’m proud of the path that brought me here, even the hard parts, because they gave me the strength to build something that reflects who I truly am, and what I want the world to be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would obviously start our day with a coffee from ROHR Coffee. We would visit the Manitou incline, garden of the gods, I personally like the views from Yucca trail as well so a stop there too. We would swing through Poor Richards for lunch, a stop at Prime 25 for dinner and then check out a drag show at ICONS or snag a show at La Burla Bee.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My kids have always been the heartbeat behind everything I do. They’ve given me the courage to take risks, the strength to be resilient, and the drive to keep going even when the path wasn’t clear. Becoming a coffee shop owner wasn’t just about building a business, it was about building a life that could show them what it means to lead with purpose. I wanted to be better for them, to set an example of how success isn’t just about personal achievement, but about lifting others up along the way.

Every decision I’ve made has been rooted in that belief. I’ve wanted them to see that you can chase your dreams and still make space for others, that kindness, community, and connection are powerful forces. Watching them grow while building ROHR Coffee has been the most humbling and rewarding experience. They’ve held me up in ways they’ll never fully understand, and through this journey, I hope I’ve shown them that when you lead with heart, success will follow, not just for you, but for everyone you bring with you.

I also want to give recognition to the 411 for the 719 community Facebook group. The support this community has for each other and how they show up without judgement gave me hope in one of my darkest moments. At the time, I was still in Corporate America, surrounded by greed, egos and hidden agendas. After joining the 411 for the 719 group and witnessing the humanity first responses and overwhelming support of people I realized where I needed to be and it was with those people, making space and being the change that I wish to see in the world. ROHR Coffee is a way to fulfill that mission and we get to do it every day.
