We had the good fortune of connecting with Jimmy Weltzheimer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jimmy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be a business owner. Reaping the rewards of my hard work and getting out what I put in is something that I love about being an entrepreneur. I had been in a workplace for so long where I was over worked and that didn’t share the same values as me or respect my priorities in life. I came to the realization that only by working for myself could I align my values with the work that I was doing and truly create an impact in the world the way that I wanted. For me in particular, the ability to prioritize my health, my family, and my relationship with God is what drives me to be successful and allows me to find purpose in everything I do. I wanted to start a business that truly encompasses my values of hard work, honesty, and integrity so that I could truly make a positive impact in the lives of others.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started Strong Haul Moving in the fall
of 2023 for multiple reasons. From a business perspective, Denver is a fast growing city with thousands of people in need of movers each year. In addition to this, I understood how costly and stressful the moving process can be. I wanted to set my company apart from others with our low pricing and high quality of work.
Unlike other companies, our company slogan “move with purpose” was directed towards our employees rather than our customers. I wanted our brand to embody true leadership and to set our employees up for future success outside of the company.
I think as a business owner it’s important to understand and acknowledge that your employees are the greatest asset to your business. Too many businesses and business owners see their employees as just another number. They don’t take their time to really get to know and understand the goals and purpose behind what their employees want to accomplish in their own lives. This is something I’ve seen myself with past employers. When I started my own business this is something I wanted to change to really set Strong Haul Moving apart.
We elevate our employees and holding them to highest standard, but also by understanding what they need to be successful with our company and in their personal lives. I think it’s important to offer my employees guidance from my own past experiences and teach them things that I wish I knew years ago.
Having that level of mutual respect between business owners and their employees is crucial to have a successful business. For me, leadership means going first, and I wanted to show my team that I care.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up in Denver and coming from an Italian family I definitely have some of my favorite spots to hangout and go eat in North Denver “The Highlands”. As far as food, you can’t go wrong with Lechugas, Gaetano’s or Carl’s Pizzaria. LOHI is always a great place to hangout and take friends. Lots of fun restaurants and bars with a great view of downtown. New Image in Wheat Ridge is another great spot with amazing beer and best staff around! I’m a big coffee drinker so Sapor Coffee on Speer Bvld is on of my favorites as well as FlyteCO on 38th ave if your looking for coffee/beer/or a good breakfast sandwich. If you happen to be exploring Denver in the summer time then going to a rockies game is a must. Especially the evening games where you get to experience a true Colorado sunset.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest supporter has always been my Mom. Since an early age she instilled in me the values of hard work and integrity. No matter what my goals or aspirations, she is always a positive supporter of everything I do. Seeing her accomplishments and all her hard work has truly been an inspiration to my own journey of success.
