We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Krubsack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, what do you attribute your success to?
Customers come first, always. A wise entrepreneur once told me that the best thing you can do for your business is to take care of your customers. No matter what challenges arise, prioritizing the customer always pays off, especially when you’re a small business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a tinkerer at heart. As a kid, I was constantly taking things apart, though putting them back together didn’t always go as planned. With a wrench in hand early on, I never stopped building, experimenting, and chasing new ideas.

For the past 13 years, my career in engineering and manufacturing has taken me through a range of fascinating industries. Each experience has sharpened my skills and fueled my passion for designing well-crafted, purpose-driven products that rise above the rest.

On the side, I’ve always built custom parts for my own car projects, bespoke designs born from necessity, curiosity, and a relentless drive to improve. But until now, I had never brought anything to market at full scale.

Helivue is the next chapter. The name has been with me for a long time, originally created for a photography venture. It’s a play on words—“It’s a hell of a view”—and it perfectly captures the spirit behind the brand. Today, Helivue is all about getting you to the best views this country and state have to offer, with rugged, thoughtfully designed gear built to take you farther.

My focus is on long-range auxiliary fuel tanks, built for those who venture beyond the pavement. I currently offer 18-gallon tanks for Toyota platforms like the 4Runner, Tacoma, and GX470, with more models on the way. These tanks extend your range, reduce fuel stops, and give you the freedom to explore deeper and stay longer.

Each product is proudly designed and manufactured right here in Colorado, blending hands on testing with practical, real world engineering. With over a decade of experience in engineering and manufacturing behind it, every tank is built for quality, durability, and reliability, ready to handle whatever the trail throws your way.

Helivue is more than just a name. It’s a mindset: go farther, stay longer, and take in every view along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Start the weekend with dinner at Domo, an authentic Japanese restaurant tucked away in Denver. The atmosphere is peaceful, the food is consistently great, and it’s a perfect spot to ease into the weekend.

After dinner, make your way to Comedy Works Downtown. The venue is small and intimate, so every seat feels close to the action. You’ll end the night on a high note with some guaranteed laughs.

The next morning, get outside with a solid local day hike like St. Mary’s Glacier or Chief Mountain. Both are within a short drive from Denver and offer great views without needing a full day. It’s a good way to stretch your legs and reset before heading deeper into the mountains.

In the afternoon, head out to Red Cone Pass for an off-road adventure. The trail offers beautiful views and just enough challenge to keep things interesting. Bring your camping gear and plan to stay the night either near the summit or tucked into the trees below. It’s peaceful up there, and waking up to the mountain air and sunrise is hard to beat. Keep it simple with a tent, a warm meal, and maybe a small fire if conditions allow. It’s a great chance to slow down and enjoy the quiet.

The next morning, pack up and start making your way back. Before heading home, stop at Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs for some classic Colorado style pizza and a well earned refuel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The off-roading community is truly something special, one of the greatest groups of people I’ve ever had the privilege to be part of. Their willingness to jump in with ideas, offer support, and share hard earned wisdom is unmatched. It’s more than just a shared love for the trail, it’s a mindset, a bond built on grit, generosity, and the spirit of adventure. I’m constantly inspired by the way this community shows up for each other.
