Meet Josie Alvidrez | Venue Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Josie Alvidrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Our business idea started shortly after our wedding and potentially facing multiple family financial struggles. Throughout the wedding process we realized the high cost of wedding venues and limited flexibility of the venue spaces. Our concept came from bringing back versatility to the venue spaces and allowing folks to host their event with their vision rather then forced venue concepts. We also opened our venue to help our immediate family by creating jobs to maintain themselves financially.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We were not always business owners. In fact I am a fulltime employee at an aerospace company as a Quality Engineer currently right now. My career has been difficult and quiet challenging as it took several years to get to where I am currently. As for my husband, Jose, he is currently working as a project manager for an HVAC company working full time.
When we first started this journey, we had no previous experience on running a venue but with our extensive knowledge in managing from our respective careers, access to the right mentors, and conducting the appropriate research, we managed to make a successful start.
Some challenges that we encountered were finding the right space and location, researching the proper zoning, and convincing the landlord that our business is a good fit for the location. We also encountered difficulties finding the right working capital to be able to fund our business. We learned how to negotiate the leasing agreement and many aspects of acquiring a business license to operate in the City of Brighton.
A lot of businesses start with a need of some kind. In our case, we wanted to provide an affordable and elegant space for families to host their events while providing a stable income for others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If our best friends were to visit the area I would really like to take them out for a camping trip out in the mountains or perhaps for a weekend trip to Breckenridge during the fall. One of our past times is to go on ghost tours in the evenings or visit several historical sites. Perhaps also do a join adventure such ziplining.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to give a shoutout to all our immediate family members that supported and encourages us when we started our business. Also to the community that continues to support us. We would also like to give recognition to all our clients that have hosted their events are our venue. Without them our venue would not be where it is at today.
