We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacie McIntosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kacie, how do you think about risk?
Taking a leap of faith is the most important part in growing a business, This type of leap is more than risk, but a belief in yourself in unknown circumstances. I gave up a steady income, a guaranteed job, and clientele to start Beauty Mark by Kacie. At the time I necessarily wasn’t in the position to take that risk financially and was doubted by people in my personal life. When my business started to grow I was told by an old employer that I had to give up 50 percent of my income if I wanted to continue it. At that moment I had to take that leap that this was going to become something bigger than I thought. I knew the risk I was taking but also knew I would reap a much more fulfilling reward in starting something that I could call my own.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a hair and makeup artist that works in a salon during the week, but primarily focuses on commercial/ Bridal hair and makeup! I gravitate towards bridal hair and makeup because lets be honest I am a sucker for love! Your bridal look is one of the most important parts of the biggest day of your life. These are photos that you will have forever so I think it is important to create a timeless bridal look while still incorporating the brides style and vision. I always find my work is more personal than just doing business. Not only do I get to see the precious moments of the bride getting dressed and ready to marry the love of her life, but also after the wedding seeing them buy homes and have babies. It is truly such a special job!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am fortunate enough that my job takes me all over Colorado, it is truly a beautiful state. But, I love my city of Denver! The first stop has to be at Union Station for some walking around and drinks at Cooper lounge! I am all about live music and shows and going to comedy works has always been one of my favorite things to do! I normally go grab pizza at Osteria Marco before hand! Best Pizza spot in Denver then walk right over to the show! For Sunday Brunch we’d be going to Ophelia’s for live jazz and bottomless mimosas! Walk around Rino and check out all the wall art!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I named everyone in my family individually who have helped me we would be here awhile! But, I have to recognize my 4 brothers and little sister for always letting me practice on them! My mom, dad, and my bonus Momz. My greatest mentor and someone who always believed in me is Beth Walker. Beth really helped launch my career and always gave me the best advice. Jessi Tarbet who was the first photographer I ever worked with and gave me my very first wedding! She was a huge part of the beginning of my career! My go to side kick Chelsea Garcia. Julia Scott from Blue Bridal for providing the dresses for my first photoshoot. I could go on.. I owe my success to a lot of amazing people and fortunate to meet so many talented people in this industry.
