We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadi Bain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kadi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business so I could help others and really provide an individualized approach to Pilates. I started doing Pilates over ten years ago and it immediately provided relief to my neck and lower back, of which I had chronic pain from a few childhood injuries.
I came up with the business idea a little over five years ago and operated under FAB Method over the past five years. I recently changed the ownership structure and with that came the name change. I love it because we are able to cater each class to the individual needs and wants of the clients, so it really is an individualized approach. We also offer a lot of one-on-one sessions for clients where we are able to really focus on areas of need and help clients with rehabilitation. Our machines are custom-made with longer beds and extra pullies allowing for a truly unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Denver.
Providing a truly unique experience that you can’t get anywhere else in the metro is what truly motivated me to start my own business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey has been long and winding with a lot of ups and downs. I was in pharmaceuticals over ten years ago in California when I had my first little girl and at the same time began doing Pilates in Hermosa Beach. Fast forward and about nine years ago moved to Denver to be closer to family, had my second sweet little girl and then went through a divorce. Shortly thereafter, I came up with a business plan for FAB Method Pilates, which had a successful run over the past five years, but ultimately the partnership had run its course and I started KD Pilates to continue serving my clients. Same great workout just with a different name!
I have learned that no matter how tough things are, if you continue to wake up every day and focus on the positive and helping others, everything will work out. I’ve also learned to surround yourself with people who support you and want the best for you, if not, it’s time to move on because life is just too short to deal with negativity.
Our brand is all about helping our clients be the best version of themselves and making working out fun, individualized, and rewarding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh gosh this is a tough question as Colorado is so beautiful and there are so many cool, unique, pocket neighborhoods throughout the Denver Metro area. I love to be active so a hike in the summer or skiing in the winter is a must. We also have some great music venues, but a trip to Red Rocks is a bucket list item as there is no other place like it in the US.
In regard to my favorite neighborhoods, I would say Highlands, Cherry Creek North, Wash Park, RiNo and Platt Park for visiting and dining. There is an eclectic mix of really great dining options with worldwide influences in great neighborhoods across the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to all my clients who continue to support my business and show up on a consistent basis. In addition, my wonderful instructors who support the company vision and are unwavering in theirs support. Lastly, my family who encouraged me to take the risk and have been there behind me every step of the way.
