We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Casper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlyn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because I needed to be able to enjoy what I do. I have always been into many kinds of art and have always had a passion for theater, dance, music, songwriting and photography. So far photography seems to be the most attainable goal at this stage in my life so I will do whatever it takes to succeed in this field!

What should our readers know about your business?
To me I am most proud of shifting my business to focus on motherhood and to truly shed a new light on how much of a miracle creating life truly is. I specialize in motherhood from day 1 to loving yourself again after babies change your body. I love all the shoots I do, especially the creative ones but the ones that have my heart are the mothers. The mothers that were never able to hold their baby, the mothers that spent years and years trying to conceive, the mothers that went through post partum, the mothers that fought for their life, the mothers who show up every day for the little hands they created and the mothers who put their children and their family above all else. The mothers who go unseen.

As far as my business goes, I thank God every day that each day I have an opportunity to do better and better. I doubt myself more often than not but then realize how far I have come. None of it has been easy but it has been so so rewarding. I have gotten to meet so many incredible people that I would have never crossed paths with without photography. I have gotten to be in the room for the most sacred beautiful moments of birth. I have gotten to be apart of so many stories and get to know so many real life incredible people it astonishes me. I have overcome a lot of challenges and I give it all to my little family. Without them I would have quit so many times but instead I think about what I can do to change things. I ask myself what I can do to be different, to be better than I was yesterday?

If I were to do anything over and restart I would have made sure I knew the business side of things, marketing side and the financial side of things. So much more goes into photography than it seems and I put us in debt not knowing how to manage those things but it’s all about learning as you go and growth can’t happen without failure.

I want the world to know that I pour my heart and soul into what I do. If you have.a vision I am ready to make it happen and I don’t want to be like everyone else. I want to tell your unique, beautiful powerful story through photos.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be completely honest I have not explored as much as I would love to and I have lived here my entire life almost!

If my best friend were here, here are a few of the places I would take them!

Food –
Melting Pot, Denver Biscuit Company, Toastique (My favorite) and Tucanos

Drinks-
Coati, Poor Richard’s for coffee, Coffee and Tea House for Boba!

Visit- Olympic museum, pikes peak cog, manitou and old Colorado city

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and my children are the heart of what I do. They are what push me to keep going in my work and make me strive to come up with new creative ideas. There has not been a single day my husband hasn’t supported my crazy ideas and stayed by my side to help me make them a reality. I also owe it to my clients that have been with me since day 1 allowing me to learn and grow from sessions that I did for free when I first started. I would have never gained any experience or learned anything without them. I also have to thank Lea Flores who taught me to believe in myself not only as a photographer but as a business owner, mother and woman.
