Meet Karis Lambert | Psychotherapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karis Lambert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karis, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Her Space Counseling came from my deep passion for creating a practice dedicated to women’s mental health. I saw how often women navigate unique challenges—whether around motherhood, identity, trauma, or health—that aren’t always fully understood or supported in traditional therapy spaces. I wanted to build a place where women feel seen, validated, and empowered as they move through different phases of their lives. Her Space Counseling was born out of this vision: to provide compassionate, specialized care that honors the complexities of being a woman while offering the tools to heal and grow.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Her Space Counseling, my focus is on supporting women through the many different phases of life. Women carry unique challenges related to motherhood, identity, trauma, and health, and I wanted to create a practice that truly understands and honors those experiences. What sets Her Space apart is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I offer a space where women can feel safe, heard, and empowered to heal and grow.
I’m also passionate about making therapy as accessible as possible, which is why I accept insurance. Every woman deserves the opportunity to care for her mental health without unnecessary barriers. I also deeply value training and education—I am constantly learning, expanding my skills, and seeking out the best ways to support clients through evidence-based approaches.
I am most proud of creating an environment where women can come as they are—whether they are navigating the transition to motherhood, working through trauma, or struggling with self-worth—and leave feeling more connected to themselves. Another value I hold is collaboration; I don’t believe therapists need to compete with each other. When we work together, we not only grow as professionals but also serve our clients in the most effective way.
Building this practice has been both exciting and challenging. It wasn’t easy to step away from the security of working at a group practice, especially while raising three young children. But with the support of my husband and my belief in the importance of this work, I leaned into the challenge, learned how to run the business side of things, and trusted the process. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth takes both courage and patience.
What I want the world to know about Her Space Counseling is that it was built with heart, with women’s healing at the center. It’s more than just therapy—it’s a space to reclaim your voice, process your story, and step into a stronger, more authentic version of yourself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough question! I would probably spend a day/night town enjoying resturants and drinks and then escape to the mountains. I love palisade and relaxing in the wineries or spending time in the hot springs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I don’t think I would have started my practice without the support of my husband, Terry. The dream of creating Her Space Counseling came to me when we had a two-year-old, a five-year-old, and a six-year-old at home. Life was busy, and it would have been easy to stay in the comfort of my group practice rather than act on my vision. Terry not only offered unwavering emotional support and faith in me, but he also helped me navigate the business side of things. He even spent many late nights with me building the website, turning this dream into a reality together.
