We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by everyday life; there are so many things in our day-to-day lives that can spark creativity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a part-time horror author. I find my day job has influenced my writing in more ways than I can say. My stories are set in health care and hospitals. I have spent a career in healthcare and have seen the good and the bad sides of it.
I have a few short stories published in anthologies, and I have to say it’s not easy. There needs to be something that sets you apart from the other hundred or so authors submitting to these open calls. I think I have a unique look at horror that isn’t shared by all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start in Morrison with Red Rocks. Take them there to see the sunrise, then off the Washington Street in Golden to hang out. There are so many places around Golden you could get lost in.
I’d take a couple of days for the mountains, Breckenridge, Dillon, Silver Plume, for more shopping. On the ride down, stop in Georgetown and Idaho Springs.
A trip downtown to see the sights, perhaps a day in Ft Collins, Northern CO, doesn’t get its due.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First would be my family. They have supported me through all phases of life.
The second would be the Denver Horror Collective. They are a group of wonderful, creative, amazing people that have helped me become a better writer and person
