We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Preece and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts behind starting my business were simply the need to escape the retail work environment and to do something that could provide a better life for my family.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Willowzmoon Services. Its a very new business comparatively at two years old. Originally I started it off as a welding business, however I recently restructured it to be more of a handyman business. Originally as a one man welding crew with minimal experience and not much in the ways of tools I was contracted out more as extra hands on jobs. This led me to the restructuring as a handyman, which created more opportunities for my self while still allowing me to do the things I love with my hands. Currently my biggest challenge is trying to juggle a full time job, my business, and fatherhood but some upcoming prospects are going to helping my really make a larger push to bring the focus in more on my business and family. I’m building my business in this way so that I may be able to leave something much larger for my children to build off of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite areas to visit here in Colorado are Estes park for the hiking and I love making the drive from longmont to Nederland in the fall to enjoy the color changes and scenic views. When I visit Nederland my favorite place to grab a bite to eat or a beer is Busey Brews Smokehouse & Brewery. In Estes I really love to hike up to Gem lake and look out on the mountains and the town it’s self from up there. Lots of my free time is spent either hiking with my family and enjoying the outdoors.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife has been a huge supporter of my entrepreneurial journey and my brother inlaw has been a bit of an inspiration and mentor of my trades and business.
