We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Lundquist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kate, what inspires you?
I am inspired by the seemingly ordinary moments that make up our lives. I love capturing the beauty and uniqueness of my subjects and taking a moment and making it a memory for others to cherish. When I am out shooting I can’t help but see the joy in someone’s face when they are with someone they love or the beauty in the way the sun paints the sky at night. The daily, mundane moments that make up our lives and we so often miss; those are the ones worth capturing.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I always try to capture authentic moments. I never want my subjects to feel uncomfortable or not themselves in the photos. Making people laugh and encouraging them to be goofy allows me to capture photos that are special and more meaningful.

I also love to shoot in film. There is something about film that I have always loved and getting out and shooting in film is usually a stress reliever for me.

I am proud of the way I have challenged myself to take different types of photos and for starting this small business. I have loved photography since I can remember and I am beyond excited to see all that it can be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many fun places to go to in Colorado Springs. I love being outdoors so I would take my friend on a few hikes. Some of my favorites include May’s Peak, Mount Cutler, Raspberry Mountain and a drive up to Pike’s Peak.

I would take them to The Wild Goose for food and drinks and walk around downtown. There are also a lot of fun coffee shops like Peak Place, Third Space Coffee, and WayFinder Coffee.

Sundays are my absolute favorite day of the week because I get to serve and attend at my church so I would invite them to come with me.

Overall, Colorado is such beautiful state and there are many more places I could and would love to take my friend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The list of individuals to thank for supporting me is endless. I have been blessed with family and friends who encourage me and are willing to go along with my crazy shoot ideas. I also have my high school art teacher to thank, Mrs. Hager. She always pushed me to go out of my comfort zone and challenged me to see things differently. Above everything, I have the Lord to thank. He gave me this gift and eyes that see the beauty in everything, despite what others may see.
