We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathlene Woltemath and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathlene, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking… it’s definitely something that I don’t do too often. But, back in 2019 after being at my full time job for 13 years, I decided to take a risk and pursue Photography. Everything I knew, my day to day work load, the people in the community, my coworkers who then became like family… I left it all behind to follow this passion, this love I have for Photography. Little did I know that in just a few short months the entire world would face a pandemic. There were many times I questioned the decision I just made. I wondered what risks, or new challenges I was going to face later down the road, but something was telling me to keep going, that the risk would be worth it. And it truly has been! In two years of business I have met some of the most amazing people. It’s true when they say “Nothing great comes without a risk.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography is a beautiful piece of art. What I love most about it is how as photographers, none are the same. We are all unique, we can have the same subject for a photograph but all perceive it differently. What I’ve learned along the way is you will find more success when working together, than passing judgement and being against one another. To have hate for another persons art will get you no where in this line of work. Some may see other Photographers as a competition, I would rather view it as collaboration.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love Horsetooth Reservoir! The drive to ge there, those views of the foothills just can’t be beat! Downtown Fort Collins has an amazing vibe going, shops during the day time with some fine dining in the evening!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shoutout Yana Mertz, an amazing hairstylist out of Fort Collins. She is someone who makes her clients visions become a reality! I had the pleasure of capturing photos for Yana since she was being featured in Shoutout Colorado! If you’re in Northern Colorado and you’re looking for someone who is passionate about what they do, contact Yana for your hairstylist needs!
