We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Eckles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been driven by a multitude of passions, particularly the joy of creating, learning, and sharing knowledge. My dream has always been to blend these passions into a career that adds value to the lives of those around me.

I have started two businesses so far. A few years ago, I launched an herbal tea business in Raleigh, NC. This venture was incredibly fulfilling; I loved creating products that positively impacted my customers’ lives. The excitement and satisfaction my customers expressed reinforced my decision to turn a personal hobby into a business. Initially, I made teas for myself, family, and friends, but witnessing the positive impact encouraged me to share these benefits with the broader community.

When I received a job offer in Denver, I decided to close my tea business and reassess whether to reopen it in my new city. During a two-year break, I focused on self-care and discovered Reiki energy healing.

Similar to my first business, I wanted to integrate my passions. After completing my training as a Reiki practitioner, I felt inspired to combine healing herbal teas with Reiki sessions. I began by creating custom teas for friends based on their needs in Reiki sessions. As interest grew in my combined Reiki and tea healing experiences, I realized it was time to offer these services to the public. Drawing inspiration from herbalism, folk remedies, and the spiritual uses of herbs, I create custom blends to support my clients’ healing beyond the Reiki sessions.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a unique blend of Reiki energy healing and custom herbal teas. What sets us apart is the holistic approach we take to wellness. We tailor our teas to complement each client’s Reiki sessions, creating a personalized healing experience that extends beyond the sessions themselves. Drawing from herbalism, folk remedies, and spiritual practices, our custom blends aim to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

I am most proud of the positive impact we have on our clients’ lives. Seeing the transformative effects of our combined therapies and hearing about our clients’ improved health and well-being is incredibly rewarding. The journey to where we are today has been filled with challenges, but each one has been a learning experience that has strengthened my resolve and refined my vision.

Starting the business was not easy. Moving from Raleigh to Denver meant closing my first business and starting anew. It was a difficult decision, but it gave me the opportunity to explore Reiki and eventually integrate it into my offerings. This transition period was marked by self-doubt and uncertainty, but I overcame these challenges through perseverance and a deep belief in my vision. Building a network in a new city and establishing credibility took time, but the positive feedback from clients kept me motivated.

One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. The ability to pivot and integrate new passions has been crucial to my business’s growth. Additionally, I’ve learned that self-care is essential for sustaining the energy and focus needed to run a business centered around healing others.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it is rooted in a genuine passion for helping people heal and thrive. Our story is one of continuous learning, adaptation, and dedication to holistic wellness. My journey reflects a commitment to integrating diverse healing practices to offer a unique and effective approach to well-being.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting the area, I’d want to take them to all of my favorite places in Denver. We’d definitely hit up Fellow Traveler for dinner to try the pineapple fried rice and a ‘Slow Graffiti’ margarita. For brunch, Bodega would be a must, and Lady Jane would be our go-to spot for cocktails. For some outdoor fun, a chill day at Cheesman Park and enjoying jazz at City Park would be on the list, along with exploring the City Park Farmers Market. Additionally, finding a challenging yet beautiful hike would also be on the to-do list!

As a music lover, we need to check out a few concerts. For the vibes we would have to see a show at Red Rocks but I would also like to catch another show at Mission Ballroom or the Ogden Theatre for a more intimate setting. Shopping would include vintage finds on Broadway and exploring metaphysical shops like Goddess Isis Books & Gifts and Ritualcravt. For a unique experience, we’d attend a séance with the Denver Psychic Development Group for a spooky and memorable evening.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my two mentors Vickie Martina of Mosaic Moon Reiki and Erin Bircher of Foundations for Change.

Vickie taught me everything I know regarding reiki and has been such a supportive and encouraging person on my journey with this new business venture. Her kindness and experience has been so inspiring and I hope my business can someday have the same impact as hers.

Erin has been such a strong supporter of me and my business ventures for many years. She is an inspiring businesswoman herself who has a therapy business, life coaching practice, and still finds time to support her community. She has given me amazing advice from the very beginning and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her encouragement and knowledge.
