We had the good fortune of connecting with Katriñe Arnedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katriñe, why did you pursue a creative career?
Working behind a desk for many years made me realize how much happier I am when I’m able to work for myself, build my own schedule, and have creativity being a cornerstone of my work! I love that event planning requires creativity in so many different ways; from problem solving to finding unique spins on wedding staples!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Matchbook Weddings and Events in 2025 after working in events in a number of capacities throughout my career. I started working in the wedding industry as a venue manager and day of coordinator in 2023 before then working for another planning company as a lead planner in 2024. I love working with creative couples that want to create fun and unique wedding experiences that they will remember for the rest of their lives! I pride myself on my problem solving skills, customer service, and ability to execute a wedding day that effortlessly flows. I’m excited to continue to expand my network and solidly my presence in the vendor community. Every wedding I learn something new and get excited to apply that knowledge to future weddings and events.

It’s definitely not easy to start your own company, there is a lot more to manage than the actual planning responsibilities! I’ve also had to more actively manage my own expectations and perfectionism; when it’s your business, everything feels higher stakes because I care so much about my work and clients! But even though there is a learning curve, I’m very proud of the weddings I’ve planned so far this year! Having a network of incredible vendors and industry friends is so helpful to work through challenges that arise.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver truly has something for everyone!

I love East Colfax; I would start the day by grabbing a coffee at Pablo’s, and spend the day visiting my favorite vintage shops on East Colfax: The Shop Outpost, Antiques Etc, Fever Dream Vintage, and Mod Livin’.

If it’s hot, we’re going to the pool to hang out in the sun and grill! I also love going to Standley Lake in Westminster to kayak and walk the trails at sunset for an incredible view of the mountains.

Whenever I visit a new city or have a friend in town, I love going to the botanic gardens. The Denver Botanic Gardens is an incredible event venue and just as fun to visit as a guest!

Denver has some great restaurants! I would take a friend to Cholon for incredible Asian fusion followed by cocktails at Hudson Hill in Cap Hill.
