We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Trejo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
At the end of the day I want people to always remember How I made them feel. To remember how kind and open I was to everyone around. Accepting and loving everyone as they come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a photographer who specializes in film. I create a lot of candid moments between my couples, I always make each couple feel special and incorporate something into their shoot that is in their daily life. Colorado is a very competitive state for photography, thankfully people here are here for the community! I got to where I am today with the help and support of my husband along the way, but also with the help of meeting so many amazing people! The words of others are really important. It wasn’t easy, like anything in life we have to overcome struggles, I overcame them with positive outlooks to be better and learn from everything. I want the world to know that I am not here to only take photos, but I am here to capture those memories that are so special to you and to become a friend along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a huge nature person and connect the most with nature. So I would definitely start it by taking them to Rocky Mountain national park. See what everyone comes to colorado for lol. Then I’d stop in Estes and have them check out the cute shops and eat some taffy and ice cream. I’d take them to the rivers and walk barefoot in the water and enjoy the sound of the birds chirping. I’d end each night with watching the stars outside.
I’d take them to 16th street to check out downtown Denver maybe get some voodoo donuts or Duffy rolls. Walk the milk market and see some cool art.
But I’d do most exploring in the nature!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give credits to my children. My first son, zayne inspired me so much to start photographing and keeping memories. I bought my first camera and started practicing on him everyday. Made me realize how special it was to keep a moment.
