We had the good fortune of connecting with Keegan O’Rourke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keegan, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I used to work ALL the time. As a young single man, I could work all day and night and received energy from my work. Then I got married, which was the greatest blessing of my life! And because it was, I wanted to be sure to devote ample and intentional time to my wife. In addition, once we started having kids, that was even more true. However, I simply paid lip service to it for the longest time. I would leave early for work and come home late. I wouldn’t take my full amount of vacation time each year because I was ‘SO BUSY’. When I ventured out to join as a partner at a small strategic video marketing company (where I currently am), I was working even harder. Over the past 3 years, due to certain family circumstances, I have been ‘forced’ to take more time off to help the family and it has woken me up. I have begun to realize the critical importance of prioritizing what matters most. And to realize that taking time off for family, friendship, old work colleagues, recreation, and prayer actually augments my work productivity and success, not hinders it.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are different from most video production companies and video freelancers in that we are: filmmakers and storytellers first, so what Hollywood uses to tell powerful stories, we use for brands to grow. In addition, we help brands be strategic in their video marketing: knowing who their audiences are (let’s tell a day in life of your target audience), what messaging/story will move/inspire them, and how can you be sure your videos are getting seen by those ideal people. We don’t just hit record and edit something nice. We have realized over the years that most brands struggle with visibility (both being seen and known). We help brands develop strategic video marketing so they can be more seen, known, and trusted and serve more and more people with their life-changing solutions.

We are proud about our TV/You Tube shows, we are proud about all the amazing clients we’ve served, we are proud to have hit 5 years in business and still growing.

To get where we are in business today, it took a lot of hustle, Providence, teamwork, scrappiness, reflection on how to make our company better and serve our clients better (learning from mistakes). It was definitely not easy. Prayer, reflection, and supporting each other have allowed us to make it this far.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Rocky Mountain National Park, Rockies game, Denver Central Market, Platte River Trail from Chatfield Resevoir to Downtown Denver, Lola Costa restaurant in the Highlands. So many places, it’s hard to list all of them here. Check out the mountains for sure. Roxborough State Park

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Can I put more than 1? If so, the following list is appropriate. If not, God gets #1 credit with my wife – Lexie O’Rourke #2.
