Meet Keegan Shaw | Hair Stylist & Owner of Eric Adam Hair Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keegan Shaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keegan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had the goal of owning my own salon. Over the six years I spent working in the industry before owning, I was able to experience a variety of salon environments. I took note of what worked well and what didn’t. What made both clients and stylists feel valued, and what held a business back. That experience gave me a clear vision of the kind of salon I wanted to create, one that reflects my values, creativity, and passion for the industry.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is so much more than just a salon, it’s a space that represents my values, my vision, and a piece of my heart. What sets us apart is the culture we’ve built. That’s what I’m most proud of. From day one, I wanted to create a welcoming, down to earth environment where clients feel seen and stylists feel supported. It’s a place where creativity thrives, and everyone can truly be themselves.
Starting this business wasn’t easy. Construction delays were a major challenge, and like many small business owners, I had to learn to be incredibly adaptable. But persistence and the mindset that setbacks are just part of the process got me through it. There’s two lessons that stick out to me the most. One, be okay when things don’t go exactly as planned. There’s power in flexibility and growth in every challenge. Two, passion will carry you far, but having the right people around you makes all the difference.
Something I really want people to know is that the name of the salon—Eric Adam Hair Co.—is deeply personal. It’s named after my dad, who passed away in 2018. This salon is my tribute to him. A lot of the values and overall vibe of the space reflects who he was. So, in many ways, every detail in the salon carries a piece of him and the love I have for what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d definitely make sure they had the best time soaking up all the charm and local gems my area has to offer! We’d start off with a cute breakfast at Chez Lizeth, the creperie right next to my salon. It’s cozy, adorable, and delicious. For exploring and dining, Downtown Littleton would be a must. It’s full of amazing restaurants, local shops, and has such a fun, walkable vibe. One night, I’d take them to Social Bar and Lounge, which is right by my salon. It’s the perfect spot for cocktails and good energy. The vibe is great and the staff is amazing. And for dinner one night—Makisushico is non-negotiable. It’s hands down the best sushi in Littleton.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. My stepdad, Howard Carlile, and my fiancé, Korbin Ruehle, both deserve the biggest shoutout.
My step dad Howie is not only the most supportive father, he’s also a general contractor, and he played a massive role in bringing my salon to life. From the very beginning he believed in my vision and helped turn it into a reality, literally building the space with his own hands. His support, guidance, and hard work made this dream possible, and I truly wouldn’t have been able to do it without him.
And second, my fiancé, Korbin Ruehle. He’s been my biggest supporter from day one. Whether it was painting walls, assembling furniture, or just being my rock through the chaos, he’s been there through it all. Since opening, he’s taken on the behind the scenes responsibilities. Handling the financial side of things like taxes and money management, so I can focus on the creative side. I’m beyond grateful for both of them.
