Meet Kelsey Pierson | Beauty & Travel Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Pierson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsey, what makes you happy? Why?
Happiness is a real b*tch. It’s here one moment and gone the next. I know for a fact that being happy changes constantly. In my 30ish years on this earth, looking back I giggle at the things that made me happy vs now. I’m happiest when I’m somewhere exploring a new city or experiencing another culture for the first time. I’m happiest when I indulge in a spa day complete with a facial and a Swedish massage. I’m happiest when my cats run to greet my husband at the door when he comes home from work. I’m happiest when I realize that I’m living the life I prayed for growing up. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing because everyday that changes. What helps is that I enjoy where I am in my life. I enjoy the moment for what it is without forcing or wishing it away.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Just like everyone else, my life is made up of the experiences (& jobs) I’ve had. Unlike everyone else, I’ve probably worked close to 60+ jobs since I was a teenager. There were a lot of jobs that sounded interesting to me, but actually just plain sucked. I was always trying something new and learning what I liked and didn’t like. I found very quickly that if I wasn’t happy & work felt like work then I went looking for something else. I wasn’t going to end up like all those horror stories of people hating their jobs, & subsequently their lives, for the entirety of forever. Yes life is short but it’s also, not. I had side hobbies that generated some income & yet it never felt like work because I enjoyed it so much. Modeling is a true passion of mine and whether I made money or not, I loved being in front of the camera & being on set. Of course, I had everyone who cared for me telling me to get a “real job” because it was tried and true, stable and safe. I understand now that they were coming from a place of love, but it felt like they were saying, “Just be like everyone else. Do what’s expected of you. Don’t rock the boat and don’t ask for too much.” For me that didn’t sit right. So taking all of that, I slowly found my way into being a content creator. I work for myself mainly and also for brands, local and national companies, that are looking for short form videos to use as marketing material on their social platforms. This wasn’t a job 15 years ago and who knows if it will be in another 15 years, but what I do know is that I enjoy it. Work doesn’t feel like work. I’m constantly learning and growing and pushing myself to create better content for my brand and also others. It’s exciting and frustrating and new and just plain fun sometimes. Everyday I wake up and I work hard (but not like #girlbossculture, let’s be real) and I go to bed knowing that I’m building my dream career & a life I’m proud of. I thrive in the kind of environment that I know what’s expected of me but no two days are ever the same. It’s regulated chaos.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love playing tour guide so I already know the best spots! Of course living in the Springs, we have Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods, the Manitou Incline, Red Rock Canyon, among other beautiful places to hike. We would stop by The Broadmoor and wander the grounds of this 5 star resort. I love grabbing a drink and people watching before heading to The Golden Bee for dinner. If there was an artist in town performing that we both liked, we make a stop at the World Arena for the show. Since downtown has new businesses opening up left and right, we’d spend the day popping in and out of shops and trying new restaurants and hidden bars. Speaking of shopping, I’d definitely go to Old Colorado City & Manitou to show them the artsy side of Colorado Springs. We’d make our way up to the Air Force Academy and I’d show them the chapel (hopefully construction is done on it) along with different spots I grew up going to like the stadium for Army vs Air Force football games. Of course, there are the Colorado craft breweries that would be on the list to visit such as Cerberus or Bristol Brewery down at Ivy Wild. If we wanted to go dancing we’d either go to Icons or Cowboys or the Mansion or go listen to live music at Louie Louie’s Piano bar. Maybe even stop by COATI and see if they have silent disco happening! We could visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and see the newest baby animals or spend time ice skating in Acacia Park. A stop at the Olympic Museum or event the training center & see if we run into any world class Olympians. If the Switchbacks had a game scheduled, we’d root on our hometown FC. I’m sure there is plenty more that we could but they would definitely have to come out for at least a week to see everything on my list!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Bill deserves the biggest round of applause. Without him being the steady & strong partner that he is & pushing me to go after my dream of being an influencer & content creator (regardless of what everyone else said), I think this always would have been a “what if”. He is loving, supportive, and helps keep me grounded yet allows me to dream the biggest dreams. For that baby, I say thank you. I love you.
