We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Weaver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am a huge advocate for amplifying voices especially those who are suppressed – which often times is women. There are so many women in my personal life and the limelight that inspire me so I felt the need to highlight these incredible people and start a conversation. Finding Her Courage became a podcast in 2021 and launched with Jen Sincero, author of “You Are A Badass.” Two seasons later, I am proud to say each episode holds something special. The great thing about this type of thing is the content can carry different meaning depending on where you are at in life. It is always a click away to learn something new, remind yourself of your power or maybe awaken a dormant desire. The main thing I want to drive home to my audience is that amidst doubt, obstacles and intuitive nudges…we aren’t so different. We all struggle with similar thoughts, feelings and mountains to get over.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It takes a lot of courage to live a life on your own terms. And I think once you take a risk, that doesn’t make you immune to doubts returning or fear making itself a big player in your life. You have to be willing to make the conscious decision again and again that you are choosing yourself and honoring your intuition at that time. To overcome the paralyzed fear, talking to someone is soooooo helpful. Listen to a podcast. But then talk to someone. If you internalize everything, your mind feeds itself a cycle of lies and convinces itself its the truth. Another person will be able to detect right away the real truth.

I hope you listen to these episodes and think about them the next time you face a big roadblock. We must be kind to ourselves. We must have patience with ourselves. And most of all we must be okay with things changing. Be naturally curious, open and receptive to your life turning out better than you planned.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many places!

Garden of the Gods – for the views of course

Royal Gorge Railroad – views again but also such a unique experience

Olympic Training Center and Olympic & Paralympic Museum

COG Railway up to Pikes Peak

Pueblo is known for its Green Chile and I have to give the best bagel award to Blazin Bagels. You won’t regret their Green Chile cream cheese!!!

Garden of the Gods Market and Cafe is some of the most exquisite breakfast and brunch items I’ve had. (ahem, Huevos Rancheros)

Story Coffee in Colorado Springs

B and C Tacos in Pueblo (reminiscent of San Diego tacos which can’t be beat – this challenges that!)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It truly takes a village. And I want to add on to that statement and say many villages. I am very grateful to the mentors and people along the way that saw something in me and made sure I knew. I first want to shoutout a woman named Barbara who unfortunately is no longer with us but I will remember her impact for the rest of my life. She was my volunteer coordinator but along the way I found myself completely enraptured with her words – it was as if I dare not speak and interrupt the wisdom that was pouring out of her. She advocated for me and told me to never play small.

I have to give recognition to my family which includes my mother, father and older sister. Their unconditional love, support and championing of me is beyond words. I feel so lucky to have had a stable home growing up and a sister that I wanted to be like from the time I could walk. They pushed me to take risks, be myself and know that that is enough.

Lastly, dance plays a huge role in my life story. So while I won’t point out a specific organization (because frankly there’s too many), I will say thank you to every single person I’ve crossed paths with because of dance. Not only did I have an outlet for creative expression and a community that accepts people from all walks of life… but the discipline, work ethic and passion is something to be admired.
