We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenna Hanson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was tired of doing things the way I was raised to do them. As far back as I can remember, I was told to get a job. I started working at 15 years old as a lifeguard. Fast forward through high school, college, and post graduation I was always employed and working for someone else. There came a point where I wanted to be more in control of my life, my choices, my schedule, my money, and one day I said I am ready for a change. I took a leap, received my Real Estate license, and my company was born.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Real Estate transactions are some of the most important, expensive, and emotional times in a persons life. My goal is to create an experience where this process doesn’t feel transactional or impersonal. I am not here to sign documents with you and move on. My business is all about creating a tailored and personal experience for you and your family as we navigate the housing market. Selling the home you’ve lived in for 15 years is an emotional experience and I am here to support you through that. Buying your first house can be extremely intimidating, and I am here to walk you step by step through it all and be a phone call away if you need me.

If I could share the one thing about my business that I want people to know it would be that I am never out of reach to my clients, I am a phone call, text, email away. I am the one taking you to tour homes, walking you through the contracts, explaining the process, negotiating on your behalf. Not my assistant, me. This is my business, my name is on the logo and YOU are MY top priority. This isn’t just business to me, this is personal.

What struggles you have endured?
I think the largest struggle for me has been to connect with clients. Moving to a new state in the middle of COVID, where I knew absolutely no one and had to build relationships from scratch…that was tough. I had to think about how I was going to connect with people on a larger scale while still respecting COVID guidelines. A big help for me was Instagram and creating Reels and videos. They are a fun way to get in front of many people at once and I get to have some fun creating them and meeting some amazing people through the platform along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since moving to Denver, we have discovered many places that we have grown to love. One thing that my fiance and I love to do is try new restaurants and we definitely have a few that hold special places in our hearts… and stomachs!

Some our faves that are close to us are:

– Best Pizza – Cosmos Pizza, you have to get the Spicy Ranch or you aren’t doing pizza correctly
– Italian – North Italia, the White Truffle Cheese Bread will keep you coming back every time
– Tacos- Margs Taco Bistro in Cherry Creek, the Frozen Margs are perfect for a Summer evening
– Healthy Spot – Flower Child is a go-to, simple and delicious

As far as activities, you have to of course go to every sporting event if you are into that sort of thing (Nuggets, Avalanche, Rockies, and Broncos) you’ll always have a fun time. You may have heard of concerts at Red Rocks, but we actually prefer Movies or “Flix” on the rocks, which gets you outside and sitting picnic style as you enjoy a movie you love. If we ever want to take a stroll, we love just taking a walk around Washington Park, it is absolutely stunning and full of life in the Spring and Summer. If you love a fun night out, I recommend walking around the Highlands area and across the walking bridge to connect to downtown. Finally, our favorite place to take our pup is Cherry Creek State Park. It is off-leash and you do have to pay for the day if you do not have a pass, but it is a fun way to get outside with your pup and meet some people along the trails.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t be where I am today without the help of several people along the way. Friends, mentors, my fiance, and my family. You cannot do this alone or without support and everyone had a role to play in the growth of my business. Some most honorable mentions include my mentors Brooke Hengst and Jim Youmans, and my amazing fiance, Jake.
