Meet Kerry Cooke | Founder & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerry Cooke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kerry, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We strive to provide the very best for pets and their humans with our intelligently designed product and our dedication to the community. Spleash is a solution for pet parents to keep their beloved pets hydrated on the go without bringing the kitchen sink along for the ride. Not only does Spleash solve the problem of dehydration in pets, but a portion of all proceeds goes to supporting therapy animals through training with Pet Partners. An organization dedicated to promoting the positive effects of the human-animal bond and how it can transform lives. They provide animal-assisted interactions to a variety of clients including veterans with PTSD, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, patients in recovery, victims in court, and children with disabilities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Within the pet sector we fill a very specific niche. The Water Solution vertical is filled with bottles and collapsible bowls, or some combination of bottle and bowl that can often end up feeling clunky or cluttered. We wanted to create something that was truly all-in-one and that attached directly to your leash. This is where Spleash truly shines! Spleash is a handle that attaches to your favorite leash, holds 12oz of water, and sprays at least 14 feet. Making it a creative solution to the dehydration dilemma.
Throughout the course of our journey we have faced many challenges. Every small business has to face at least a few hurdles in their path. Ours started with the big one that took out just about everyone, the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our fledgling company was newly hatched when everything changed. Suddenly the global business world was an even bigger mess than ever before. We were forced to navigate this new landscape while also learning the ropes of owning a business in the first place. But we never let those obstacles daunt us. Every time we were knocked down we got back up and forged a new path to overcome the challenges before us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We don’t personally live in Colorado, however, my brother does which is where we founded our company. His favorite attractions for visitors to see when they come out are the Denver Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. According to him, downtown Denver itself is very fun to explore and has lots of interesting features like the historic home of the “Unsinkable Molly Brown” or the Capitol Building. Next he loves taking friends to experience the wonder and natural beauty of Colorado by visiting some of its amazing small towns. Places like Conifer and Evergreen where you can walk through town, pick up a nice lunch, and soak up some nature!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take a moment to recognize all of the outstanding people I have come across in my time as an entrepreneur entering the pet space. I have met many truly wonderful people through this industry, people who have helped me to navigate a new market, who have supported me through this process, who have used their platforms to lift up my company and my product. In particular I would like to acknowledge Beth Miller from Wagtown, someone who has stood by me since my first foray into the pet space, and Nancy Hassle from American Pet Professionals, an organization focused on building a community for pet entrepreneurs to connect with one another.
