We had the good fortune of connecting with Keva Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keva, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think calculated risks can be very rewarding. In my case, the risk I took was to leave my corporate job and get my cosmetology license at 31 years old while raising two kids with my spouse and suffering from SLE Lupus. All of this was very scary, but because of my success over many years as a kitchen beautician on the weekends away from my corporate job. I could create a business where I was my own boss working for my own goals. The risk has had its challenges, but the rewards have been life-changing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My brand is simple: I offer a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, high-quality products and healthy hair care, and a lot of knowledge. My approach is to create a partnership with my clients to empower them through the many milestones on their hair journey. I constantly challenge my clients to be more involved in their haircare routines.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m an extroverted introvert. One of my favorite places is my home or backyard with my kids and grandson, but there is so much to do in the city. I love the Denver Art Museum and Art Bar, Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Vibes in the Park on Sundays, and a hike or concert at Red Rocks. Denver is experiencing a Black Renaissance of sorts, so events are happening all the time for music, art, shops, and food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out God, my family, my children, and my mother for always creating space for me to explore all my talents (I’m a STEM kid at heart). I shout out to every client who’s trusted my vision over the last thirty-plus years. Lastly, I want to thank every creative artist who has trusted me to create for photoshoots and fashion shows.
