We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Henery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krista, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I never thought I’d turn a hobby of taking photos into a business that continues to grow!

I went to school for journalism, and spent about 10 years working in TV as an on-air reporter and early-morning news anchor.

When I moved to Colorado six years ago, I turned the page on my TV chapter, but knew I still wanted to use my creative gifts and talents, so I purchased a cheap camera and started taking photos of basically anyone who would let me capture photos of them and their families.

Now, a few years later, I continue to grow and learn, and my business has been a huge blessing to me and my clients! I feel honored when a client chooses me to not just take their photos, but to capture and freeze some of the most precious moments and memories of their families that will last a lifetime and beyond.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have friends visit me in Colorado, I always take them to Horsetooth in Fort Collins. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful place I’m lucky enough to have basically in my backyard. I also LOVE trying new restaurants. Some of my favorites. though, are Ginger and Baker in Fort Collins, and Pizza Vino and the Hearth in Windsor. Can’t go wrong with any of those!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A huge thank you and shout out to my family for always believing in me, and for being my biggest supporters and encouragers as I chase my dream of building my business.

Also, I couldn’t do it without my clients who continue to choose me year after year to capture some of their most important times in life. I am so honored and feel so extremely lucky each time a client chooses me as their photographer.
