We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristina Lampshire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristina, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balance has changed over time for me in a big way, especially recently with being pregnant with our first child. I think that work/life balance is always important, but even more so now with becoming a mom soon. When I was in my 20s and I was so green and new and learning the ways of the world, I was focused a lot on friendships and finding myself, that I probably did not focus the most on my career. It wasn’t until about age 30 that I really started to focus and made work and building a business my main priority. Which is funny, because when I was 32 that is when I met my now husband, and was spending a lot of time with him and his family creating that bond but also was successful at work so much so that it gave me the courage to start my business Amuse Social LLC. in August of 2019, right before the pandemic. When the pandemic then hit, my work/life balance, like most people’s was totally thrown off. I had to completely pivot out of doing social media marketing for restaurants and into social media for senior living. Quite the change.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started in social media back in Las Vegas, my hometown, in 2011 when I was working for a media group that published a weekly magazine as well as online articles in the entertainment sphere. I also was an Administrative Assistant, Editorial Assistant and Concert Coordinator for the weekly magazine at this company. Being an Admin Assistant was definitely not my forte and I remember the owners, my bosses, regularly telling me to get off Facebook. Instead, I then started to help post for their social media. At that time I was also serving at a popular restaurant on the Las Vegas strip. My manager had a connection to the oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas, the Golden Steer, and asked if I could “help out” with their social media presence. I agreed and soon I was getting paid on the side for that as well. I did more internships around Vegas with social media and PR mostly for magazines and restaurants. I wanted to get out of my hometown and move to CO so I made that move in 2016 where I kept Golden Steer Steakhouse as a 1099 client. Along the way I learned to speak up for what I knew I was worth, because back then, they were not paying social media managers much as Instagram wasn’t even around yet! In Denver I worked with Oskar Blues Fooderies, and then found myself as the PR and Social Media Manager for Kimbal Musk’s The Kitchen Restaurant Group. I learned the most in that job as I had three awesome women mentors that helped me learn so much. I was managing 18 different restaurants in 5 markets and I even was traveling for that job. I grew a lot and had always wanted to start my own Social Media business and in July of 2019 I left TKRG and started Amuse Social LLC in August of 2019 very excited and eager and I really dove head first into it with clients that another awesome mentor (shoutout to Dan) helped me get. Then the pandemic hit and everything kind of crumbled. That taught me a lot to overcome adversity and stick it out and roll with the punches. Another awesome business connection and mentor introduced me to the world of Senior Living and almost 4 years later I continue to learn about that market doing social media for local company Ascent Living Communities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friends were just here for my baby shower and there was so much more I wanted to show them! First I would go get a great breakfast at The Bindery in the highlands and then after that if the weather is nice, I would take them around the shops in RiNo or stay close to home in Arvada and walk through Olde Town. We would have to try and catch a concert at Red Rocks or take a drive to a mountain town like Breckenridge or Vail to hike or partake in snow sports depending on the season. I love mocktails so finding any place that makes some great mocktails and cocktails would be a must, I love Death & Co. in RiNo. Chook Chicken is a delicious place to grab lunch on Pearl St with their delicious Rotisserie chicken and owners Chef Alex Seidel and Adam Schlegel have put together such a great menu that even my bestie’s little one’s would love.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my story, I would love to give a shoutout to my husband, Luke. He has always been a big cheerleader of mine. He helps me navigate life choices and changes and our biggest change in life is coming with the birth of our first child in September. I couldn’t be more excited to navigate this new part of our lives with him. Love you, babe!
