Meet Kurt Ogbewele | Chief Executive Officer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kurt Ogbewele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kurt, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was simply inspired to start my own business by my best friend at the time. Then I thought about what my coach/mentor told me when I was trying to become a Division I basketball player. He said your body is a business, which means if you take care of it, then you can compete at a high level. Then I thought it takes more than your body to compete and succeed, you need your mind and spirit to. So I created MBSB, which means your Mind, Body, Spirit Is Your Business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hello, my name is Kurt Ogbewele, and I am the CEO of MBSB (Mind, Body, Spirit Is Your Business). We started in March of 2022 and have been in operation, serving young people in School Districts, Nonprofit Organizations, and Juvenile Correctional Facilities. We are a private profit business and focus on educating and training young people in Sports, Leadership, entertainment, and Financial Literacy. We are proud of our time in Denver, serving over 200 young scholars in the last two years. We have seen the impact the program has had and look forward to inspiring more students. We are here because of strategic collaboration/partnerships and continuing to follow the mission of helping young people become professionals in their most desired industries. It’s never easy, but by God’s Grace, we keep believing and do the right and necessary things to be successful. Plugging in with my partners and doing my homework allows me to not give up or in. Simply, I care and want to see all people make it in their calling and purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to El-Five. This restaurant is hands down the best for me and my people for the last five years. Union Station is just great for strolls down the block. If you are looking for fun, I would say hit up Denver Pub Crawl or Out of Office Events for good connections with strangers. Forget Me Not is a great spot for drinks and vibing out. I would take them to the Premier Lounge rooftop to enjoy the scenery. If in the mood for Seafood, Go Fish Sushi is the place to go. The salmon and Appetizers are off the chain. Since Colorado is a prominent place for mountains, we have to check out Red Rocks and enjoy the amphitheater. But ending the time with a creamy ice cream and good conversation is legit. Overall, you have to go to El-Five and enjoy the atmosphere; you will not regret it!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my business partner, Dr. Ruth Bryant White. Since we have been partners(over 10 months), I have learned that it is ok to go through challenges, just keep following the Lord. I dedicate my striving to become a New York Contractor to her, and I appreciate her dedicating her time and energy to supporting this journey. She has connected me to her family( Pershaun Reynolds, Dr. Steve White, and Adrian Bryant) to serve this contract. Overall, we are thankful to be able to influence young scholars in a positive and impactful way!
