We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacey Hamel and Lisa Lowrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey & Lisa, why did you pursue a creative career?
Being an artist and having the ability to create something tangible, is one of the most gratifying aspects of our business. When you get the opportunity to dream big, without any guidelines and take those dreams and create something inspiring from nothing more than your own thoughts…it’s what keeps us going, pushing for success!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lace and Lilies is a floral design studio located in Fort Collins, Colorado. We specialize in large scale weddings and event flowers, corporate floral subscriptions and teaching. We began our journey as a small business in 2011, with nothing more than a passion for flowers and spreading love and beauty to our community. Over the years, we have grown more than we could have ever predicted and feel incredibly lucky every day for what we have obtained. We believe in the idea that anything is possible and push creativity as far as it can go. Our biggest accomplishment is being named one of Martha Stewarts top floral designers in the nation, since 2015! The road to get where we are, has not been easy. It is because of our dedication to ourselves, our staff and our clients, that we have overcome every obstacle that has fallen in front of us. Let’s just say, owning and operating a wedding floral company in the middle of a world wide pandemic where gatherings of more than 10 people is forbidden, has not been easy. Our entire business model is entirely different than it was last year and being able to pivot in difficult times, is key. We can proudly say, we always give everything our very best and we want that to show in our work!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If our friends were coming to stay with us in Fort Collins, we would have a large list of places to go! We would be sure to hit our favorite dispensary, Organic Alternatives located right in Old Town. Since we are known for beer, we would need to hit New Belgium and Odell Brewery, can’t pass up a good sour. For restaurants, we love Cafe Vino and Rare Italian. For late night drinks, you have to check out the Elizabeth Hotel, Ginger and Baker, The Social and The Blind Pig. For a good hangover cure, Meraki Yoga to sweat it all out, followed by snacks and a movie at the Lyric.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Where would we be without our families?! They have been our biggest support system and cheerleaders over the last 9 years. We were both raised to believe in ourselves, that nothing was unattainable and that we could be exactly who we wanted to be. Still to this day, we bounce ideas off of our families, find inspiration from our conversations and lean on them when we need someone to listen.
