We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Grier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As an entrepreneur/self-employed business owner, risk taking is in my job description. Besides being authentic and consistent with content, taking risks is one of the most important things I do. It’s actually part of my business plan. When I take risks it allows me to grow, pivot in unpredictable markets, and the best part, find out what is and isn’t working. Once I’ve taken the risk I actually become more adaptable which is extremely important especially in the online food industry. That’s how I survived for over a decade!
What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been a food and lifestyle blogger for over 10 years! I didn’t start out in this business. Blogging was my side hustle when I worked in corporate finance. In 2008, I lost my job due to the market crash and figured it was good time to try blogging as a full-time business. I taught myself how to cook, photograph, and learn the world of code. It was no small undertaking, but it eventually led to writing my first cookbook published in 2017 called Modern Comfort Cooking. The rest as you say is history!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My community! Climbing Grier Mountain would be nothing without my readers, mentor, family, and friends! They keep me going day in and day out. I love creating content and brining value to other peoples lives!
