We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Schoenborn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Have you seen Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade? As if he was Dr. Henry Jones, my father taught my four brothers and me the importance of being self-reliant. He strongly encouraged us to become our own bosses, and I took that advice seriously.
After obtaining my degree in Public Relations from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!), I did not waste any time pursuing the experience needed to build my own brand. Between 2011 and 2012, I dabbled in the non-profit sector as well as in the dog-eat-dog world of publicity for high-profile celebrities in Los Angeles, CA. In 2013, I took on the role of Event Coordinator at the well-known Sunstone Vineyards & Winery in Santa Ynez, CA. There I learned the ins and outs of luxury weddings, wellness retreats and private wine tastings. Then, it was during my four-year tenure in Bozeman’s hotel market, producing conferences, trade shows and corporate functions, when I finally bit the bullet and started coordinating my own events during weekends out of the office. Come 2020, I had enough personal business built up to take the leap of faith and transition into being a full-time entrepreneur!
My aspirations as a business owner have been to create a healthy work-life balance, work with like-minded clients and vendor partners, motivate other event industry professionals and learn the nuances of planning events on a global scale. Thanks to the values and drive instilled in me while growing up in Richmond, VA (and while watching Indiana Jones, of course), I am proud to say BBE is well on its way to achieving these goals.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At BBE, we live our lives in ALL CAPS and believe in making a bold statement.
After years of servicing clients within the PR sector, and as an event coordinator in beautiful wine country, at multiple hotel brands and alongside other industry leaders, I created an outlet to combine all of my acquired skills and passions: Beautifully Born Events. BBE allows me to do what I cherish most: bring family-oriented teams together to provide unforgettable experiences for brides, grooms, corporate leaders, production companies and other social gatherers.
As an advocate for upscale clients and vendors, we capitalize on our charismatic personalities, relatability and can-do attitudes to produce events that are sure to leave a lasting impression. While we enjoy taking charge of an entire function, we are also capable of serving as support staff for large-scales projects.
Currently, we are most excited about our involvement in the Grammy’s Celebration, Elevation Beaver Creek and the Formula 1 races in Las Vegas, NV. We are also eager to pursue roles at international events such as the Olympics.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
GO TEAM GO!
First and foremost, I have the utmost gratitude for my mother (Lynn), father (Scott), stepmother (Agata) and brothers (Ted, Staś, Antonio and Mieszko) for their never-ending love, support and encouragement. Together, we are “building an empire.”
Secondly, I want to raise a glass to my late grandmother (Diane) for her contribution to the BBE logo. Our last name, Schoenborn, translates to “born beautiful” in German, so it seemed only fitting to use her noteworthy handwriting for the “Beautifully Born” portion of the business name. Thank you, Mom-Mom!
I also want to give a shout-out to my uncle (Eric) for his legal counsel, a dear friend (Laurie) for serving as an entrepreneurial mentor and my best friend (Ashley) for being the ultimate cheerleader and sounding board.
Lastly, cheers to anyone and everyone who has assisted BBE with an event or related project within the last seven years. Your hard work is noticed and much appreciated, not only by me but also by clients, guests and vendors alike. Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In typical planner fashion, here’s how I would structure our Friday or Saturday if given the opportunity to host a friend within Denver and its surrounding areas:
8:00am – Breakfast with the cousins at their gorgeous home in Littleton
9:30am – Hike in Roxborough Park OR Workout in Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison
1:00pm – Tour of Coors Brewery in Golden
3:00pm – Shopping in Golden
5:30pm – Private wine tasting at Vin Rouge Wine Bar in Berkeley (I previously worked with owners Jenn and Jarrett at Sunstone Winery)
7:30pm – Dinner on the patio at Domo in Lincoln Park
9:30pm – Dessert at D Bar Denver in Uptown
