We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Brocksmith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Aesop Studios creates story-forward brands and marketing for thoughtful Realtors and industry professionals. I find success when I am able to connect with agents who have a heart-centered business and a strong “why” behind what they do.

When creating brand identities and strategies, the brand elements should tell the business’s story, and that’s why I take the time to connect with my clients and do a deep dive into their business goals and their unique value propositions. The branding process is a thoughtful exercise in crafting the mood and message for a Realtor, and it’s not something that should be rushed or created without full consideration.

A grounded approach produces a rich, timeless brand that allows agents to conduct their business with confidence. One of the aspects of my job that drives me every day is creating small, elevated details that speak to our Realtor’s clients at every step in the the relationship.

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the aspects of my business that I’m most proud of is that I am able to help other Realtors gain confidence in their brands. This means that they spend less time worrying about their marketing, and more time nurturing their client relationships and building their business. One of my favorite parts of my job is taking the conversations I have with an agent and crafting that into a deeply personalized brand experience- from the tone and language, to the visual aspects like their logos and custom fonts.

A challenge that I had to overcome early on that made me better at my craft was that the brand design and social media management industries are highly saturated with service providers. I quickly had to learn how to stand out. I did this by taking on clients who I truly connected with and creating thoughtful deliverables that were timeless and not trendy. They told the root story of the client’s business and were not focused on the loudest and flashiest trends of the moment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My husband and I enjoy finding the good food, hole-in-the-wall places that you may not know about unless you’ve lived here a while. We always have the best meals and service and mom and pop restaurants. We would start our day with breakfast at the Fly Trap. The food is always fresh and homemade jams and hot sauces are the cherries on top.

After that, we would head to Bread by Crispellis for a coffee, a few Italian sandwiches and fresh pastry to pack into a cooler. We would then hit the road and head up north for a weekend on the lake! In the spring and summer months there’s not much better than relaxing with family and friends while enjoying a weekend at a lake cabin.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business would not be here without the trust that my first client placed in me. I learned so much from that experience and it gave me the confidence to continue forward and formalize my business.

I would not have taken the leap of faith to start my business without my husband and kids. It was my family that encouraged me to pursue my own journey when I was nervous to put myself out there. From the early days with my first client, they cheered me on even when I was going through the growing pains that many small business owners experience.

Lastly, I’d like to shout out the small business owners in our local community. I have met some of the most talented individuals and creatives who work harder than any other. When they say you should surround yourself with people who will mention your name in a room full of opportunity, I like to think our community takes that to the next level.
