We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Lebowitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Social impact is at the core of Greater Good Funds. Our purpose is to help nonprofits or public sector organizations fulfill their missions. Their missions are all about solving a need or problem in the community. Usually these organizations are subject matter experts in their field. However, they need funding to carry out their impact, and that’s where I come in. Greater Good Funds provides educational tools or fundraising consulting services to assist organizations with raising the funds they need to bring their visions to life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Greater Good Funds ultimately helps nonprofits achieve their missions through raising the necessary funds to carry them out. I have over 16 years of experience in fundraising in the areas of prospect research, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships and grant writing. My various experiences from large higher education shops to small nonprofits gives me a unique perspective to understand the common challenges and how to achieve success.

When I first started it the fundraising development field, I was a prospect researcher. Starting in a research capacity has framed everything I do from a place of strategy. When I work with a client or teach a course, I am implementing the strategies I have learned along the way.

This year, I began offering courses and workshops for nonprofits to learn these fundraising strategies. My main goal is to help as many social organizations as possible meet their fundraising goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many, it’s hard to choose! Here are my top picks:

– Restaurant view/overall experience: Acreage in Lafayette

– Brunch” AKA Kitchen in Loveland

– Camping and biking: Buffalo Creek

– Skiing with little kids: Granby Ranch

– Carter Lake swim beach for swimming and paddle boarding

– Anything in Crested Butte, I love that town!

– I have to give a “shoutout” to my local brewery, City Star and food truck Taco Man

– Hiking at Horsetooth Reservoir

I could go on on, but those are a good place to start.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Not a single one of my successes was done alone. I’m so grateful to my first boss, Joann Maneri for giving me my first position in the fundraising development field. Her belief in me gave me the courage to keep going and to keep learning. I’ve been fortunate to have many mentors along the way. I appreciated the bosses that encouraged me to invest in professional development, because continuing to learn has been a huge asset in my career.

My sorority sister and lifelong friend, Allison Aubuchon, owner public relations advocacy firm, Allison Aubuchon Communications has been a huge source of encouragement for starting my own business. She started her own gig, a few years before me and has been showing me the ropes to entrepreneurship and an overall cheerleader.

The organizations I work with inspire me everyday. They are true testaments for creating real change in our communities.

My parents, husband and kids are incredibly supportive, and I hope to make them proud.
