We had the good fortune of connecting with Lolita and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lolita, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The goal is to stay true to myself, be authentic & to enjoy the journey.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wholeness, my name is Lolita. I’m a singer, rapper, and songwriter. I’ve had a fascination with words & music since I was a little girl. Both my parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico and built an amazing foundation for my siblings and I. My parents introduced me to a variety of musical genres growing up. My father’s voice decorated the halls of my childhood home his rich vocals sang a variety of Mexican folk songs, I love hearing him sing his favorite songs from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. The dinner table was and still is a conduit to enlightening conversations; we discuss various philosophical, metaphysical and mystical topics, even taboo at times. These experiences have enriched my perspective and gifted me with a passion for further understanding the world around & within me; which I believe is reflected in my music (especially the new projects I am working on now). My inspiration for creating music comes from a need to give my inner-self a voice and to transmute any trauma or suffering that is working against my highest purpose. I bring these emotions to the surface so that they can be honored & alchemized in a way that serves my highest self. I believe that by focusing on my uniqueness and doing what brings me joy I am making the world a more balanced & wholesome place. Any obstacle I’ve had on my journey has proved to be a powerful opportunity for growth. I am grateful and optimistic.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go for a hike to Eldorado Springs. Goto Sherpa House in Golden Colorado for lunch. Spend the evening downtown Denver and enjoy some dinner at one of the many vegetarian/vegan restaurants. After grabbing some foos at the Same Cafe on Colfax, we would enjoy our evening at some of the many metaphysical shops (Herbs & Arts, SpiritWays,Goddess Isis Books, etc.), book stores, thrift stores, and coffee shops on Colfax or Broadway. Or perhaps we would spend a weekend enjoying a road trip to the San Luis Valley where we would enjoy the beautiful views goto the sand dunes, and stop by some of the many spiritual temples in Crestone Colorado.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful for the love and support of my family & friends, my community, and my mentors. I definitely want to shoutout DMDTheProducer who has been the producer for most of the music I’ve released thus far, & Owen Trujillo my partner and one of the most amazing audio engineers that I know. I am fortunate to be surrounded by intelligent, caring & supportive people who give me the inspiration to be successful both in my career and personal journey. I’d also like to shoutout all my peers and instructors at Innerversity which is a metaphysical institute that I attend that has added much purpose, joy, and wisdom to my life.
