We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynn Joselyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynn, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Taking time off to get clear about my career change. I have worked in primary care conventional medical settings since 1997. I began to experience significant burnout due to working in a broken medical system with many barriers to caring for people in a way that supports deeper healing. Going to work each day I found myself out of alignment with how I personally wanted to support people.

A small intimate practice offering private visits, group community visits, high touch communication, advanced functional lab testing and evaluation. I keep my membership intentionally small so I can provide care in the way that is in alignment with my passion to transform the way people heal.
I do not take the place of a person’s primary care practitioner but instead act in collaboration and as an extension of the conventional work, evaluations and screenings done with PCP.
With my advanced functional medicine education through the Institute for Functional Medicine https://www.ifm.org, I am trained to evaluate a person through a systems based approach looking at all the ways the body systems are integrated, looking for dysfunction at a cellular level, from which we can begin healing from the root cause of the dysfunction. Foundational lifestyle factors are an essential part of my work with people. Always weaving in nutrition, sleep, restoration, community, movement, relationship. My work with people is collaborative/partnership meeting people where they are in their health journey and beginning from that point working collaboratively to create a roadmap to healing that is accessible to each person individually.
As a Certified Food and Spirit Practitioner™ I will integrate the Seven Systems of Health, an integrated science-based approach to healing created by Dr. Deanna Minich™. This is a full spectrum approach to health that meets people where they are along their personal healing journey. Looking at health and wellness through the lens of the Seven Systems brings a depth to healing that conventional methods alone are able to obtain. Since learning this method and integrating it into my life, I now see the world through color and the seven systems, elevating the vibrancy of life and health. This brings beauty, depth and joy to healing.
What set’s me apart?
My years working in conventional medical settings gives me a fantastic foundation of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmaceuticals and the conventional approach to disease. I am very grateful to all my patients and mentors along the way from who I have learned so much from. Due to the constraints of the conventional model including insurance barriers, time barriers, numbers of patients to see in a day, lack of time to really educate, lack of support for patients feeling isolated in their disease I took the pain points of the conventional setting and created a membership model founded on the following:
accessibility – high touch communication with my patients is essential to course correct in the moment when they have concerns – I do this through a direct electronic health messaging portal available M-F,
Weekly group visit, every week patients are invited to a community connection gathering where we meet, have a short educational topic, conversation, a nourishing snack and time for questions. This is probably my favorite part of the week, witnessing people connect with each other, touch base with their accountability, exchange recipes, pain points, wins and challenges.
Education is a critical aspect of my practice
I believe that if you teach people about their body and the why and how, it makes lifestyle changes a bit easier to follow.
Working through the lens of a patients personal goals is an important aspect to my work with people. I often begin with the question “what do you want your health for?”
This can mean different things for different people, some want health to
get up and play with their grandchildren,
to obtain physical athletic goals
to wake daily with energy to live out their life passions
to finally understand what is going on with their body, after often seeing many practitioners with no answers and all conventional labs looking ok
To sleep better so they can engage calmly with their children
To assess potential risks related to family history, genetics, exposures and life history and to create a roadmap to age gracefully and vibrantly
The list goes on and on and is absolutely individual for each person
We review goals at each visit, if the work I am guiding them to do is through the lens of their “why” more success happens with ease.
I see myself as a guide, offering suggestions, testing, evaluation to people so they can be empowered to heal. The body is an amazing and dynamic and wants to find homeostasis or alignment, it often just needs tools to support the trajectory towards health. I call this slow cook medicine, it takes time to uncover root cause, finding the upstream break down, dysfunction in the body that over time and triggering events causes the downstream symptoms and disease. After uncovering the upstream causes, we work from that point to heal and that takes time! This is not a quick fix.
Every decision we make in our day to day, moves the needle toward health or disease, I offer suggestion to move the needle to health.
Expectations are very important when working with people. 90+ % of the success is with the patient, in the day to day decisions and lifestyle choices. My practice is for people ready to do the daily work to heal. It is not a prescription for an ill. Some people do not want to make these kind of changes, in that case, my practice is not the place for them. And that is OK! Meeting people where they are on their health journey is critical.
What am I most proud of or excited about?
I have been “thinking” “dreaming” about doing this for years. I am proud that I finally leaned in to the discomfort and unknown and created something! Just starting and moving forward continuing to unveil and create my practice small brick by small brick. It was a real leap of faith for me. It is one of those things I can honestly say If I never did this I would always regret it but if I do it and fail, I will always be grateful for the experiences through the process.
I am excited about really harnessing the power in community to support people’s empowerment and ability to choose health and begin to embrace deeper healing. What is possible for people and how we heal when in community? So many people living with chronic illness feel isolated in their health challenges, and in the conventional only model they are isolated. Isolation is a risk factor for declining health. I am excited to see what is possible by adding the element of community as an integral part of my practice.
How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy?
No not easy!
Culmination of many small events through out my life lead me to creating my own “out of the box” medical practice
My own personal health crisis, getting lost in the conventional system, having to figure out and navigate my healing on my own was/is a big part of how I got here
Sitting with people struggling with health challenges in the conventional medical model, short visits, minimal time for education, lack of community resources to really support healing, disjointed communication with specialty care and the care team of each patient. I got to the point where I felt “soul sucked” in this model, it began to break my spirit, worsen my personal health and I was showing up in away that was not in alignment with my heart and how I wanted to be with people. I had to leave medicine all together at that point. I quit my urgent care job without a plan. I slowed way down, began personal therapy to clean and clear deeper old limiting beliefs that were no longer serving me and began to heal at a much deeper level. This took 1.5 yr and as I began to heal from this deeper place my inspiration slowly was rekindled.
I then met Dr Lara Salyer my business mentor who’s mission is to transform healthcare and support practitioners through creativity to rekindle and recreate their passion through private small practices. Her mentorship was/is an absolute game changer and I would not have been able to create my business without her mentorship!
If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Self care, stopping, leaving my job/career, acknowledging and addressing burnout, personal therapy, trust, taking risks, mentorship, reaching out to other healthcare professionals and creating community of others in similar positions, support of my family always rooting for me, nature, movement, yoga
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way
Mentorship is essential and worth the investment
Dream declare and deliver REPEAT
Self care truly is a personal responsibility to create what you are on this planet to do
the ups/downs are real and not going away
daily practice of not attaching to the highs or lows of medical/business entrepreneurship
community is essential
Trust
constant course correcting
the power of small habits, daily practices is profound
small bricks every day build your vision
I have fallen down many times in this process, the is no way to do this with out tripping, falling and getting back up. Continual course correction is a foundational daily practice
Reach out to others, isolation stagnates your process
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am passionate about whole person integrated health. I integrate a full spectrum of tools to approach healing so people are empowered to choose health. Healing does not have to be done alone, community is key! I am a life long learner, always in a course to learn more about the human body, physiology, personal growth, creativity, the power of color to support healing………..
I do not tout myself as an “expert”, knowing all about the body or that I can “fix” your chronic medical challenges, but I am willing to stay the distance and work with you in partnership to uncover dysfunction and empower you to heal in a way your body knows how to do. To support you in living your life on purpose full of vitality, connection and Joy.
