We had the good fortune of connecting with Vince Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vince, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our business’ success is the unwavering customer support, followed closely by our quality of products.
We want each and every guest to experience the absolute best customer service that we can provide. Weather it be communication on an order, bespoke/couture items, or even how to care for their new purchase, we want to ensure that they are absolutely stoked on their purchase.
Secondly would be our quality of leather goods. We use American Bison leather exclusively. It’s 30-40% greater in strength than cowhide. Combined with our double saddle stitch done by hand, we provide unparalleled quality of leather products. Also, ALL of our hand stitched items are backed with a lifetime guarantee on the stitching. In the 6 years we have been crafting leather accessories, we have yet to have a single item returned for repair or replacement.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started as a Leather Hobbyist initially, couldn’t find what I wanted on the market and quickly realized that we had a product that was unique to the marketplace. Our approach from day 1 was to create the most durable goods available. Thru timeless techniques with hand crafting and using the highest quality of leather we could find, we were able to develop a basic line from the start. We chose Bison leather for its unrivaled durability as well as rich western character. In first 2 years we added additional accessories to our line and have have continued to add more each passing year. Our approach with goods is to provide upmost quality leather accessories with a contemporary western aesthetic. We still cut, stitch and finish each piece by hand. We also back each hand stitched piece with a lifetime guarantee.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a business that is based in the mountains, I would insist on recreating up here. Steamboat Springs has an abundance of options. Time on Mount Werner (the ski area) would be a great option for wintertime or summertime. A winter trip would be full of hiking in the backcountry on Buff pass, Rabbit ears, or up north near Clark. The summertime is very comprable with activities, and is filled with backpacking in the Zirkel Wilderness and Flattops area, as well as endless biking options for day rides or even an overnight bike packing adventure. Fish Creek falls is a great day hike, as well as the Rabbit Ears. My favorite spots in town to eat are Primrose, Béseme, Backdoor Grill, and Table 79. The Barley and Storm Peak Brewing are both good places to for aprés drinks or to wash down a meal.
The outdoors are a great place to reset, slow down and take in the beauty of our state.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize and give credit to all of our supporters and customers that have helped grow our business and trust in our products. Also, the Graveyard Group ( a local men’s group) in Steamboat has been instrumental and supportive from day one of our business.
