We had the good fortune of connecting with Madi Stroud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madi, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
The balance of working on my social media and continuing education has truly been a journey. It’s extremely easy to stretch yourself too thin and end up not putting your best work forward. My balance has made a significant shift towards my health, getting enough sleep every night, making sure I’m eating properly, allowing myself time to recharge and enjoy hobbies. I feel as though I’ve seen my work improve when I’m making time for myself to recharge.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up with social media I’ve always found it so engaging and fascinating. I always wanted to participate but never pushed myself to start consistently putting out my own content. I couldn’t tell you how many photos, videos, etc… I’ve filmed, taken, and edited that never saw the light of day. It’s an aspect that I feel many people don’t open up about. You have to be willing to face judgment and opinions in order to put yourself out there. I started taking my social media seriously starting in early February of this year and have gotten to experience my engagement growing with my following. I have a long way to go to keep working on a personal brand but have loved getting into the analytics of social media and seeing what it takes to produce daily content and grow engagement.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I can’t wait for my best friends to experience life in Denver. We’d have to hit some of my favorite restaurants such as The Kitchen American Bistro and the Mercury Café for jazz nights. Another day would need to be spent hiking in the National Park for some wilderness photography and time spent in nature.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly wouldn’t be able to continue all of my side projects while pursuing a career in business without my significant other Ben. He’s truly my motivation to continue to push forward and put in the extra work. I think about how he’s willing to stand next to me every day and help lift me up even when the work becomes overwhelming. I think everyone needs to find someone like him to be their support system.
