We had the good fortune of connecting with Mamine Doumbia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mamine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business basically I came to a realization to myself that I am a hard working employee, at the time of this thought I was employed at Chuck E. Cheese’s. I realized I was working hard to make someone else, rich I was looking around at my peers and some of them would pick the easiest task at work and I would do whatever I was asked of! And on top of that I wasn’t getting treated right by the customers! I took the next step and quit my job and told myself whatever it is that I want to do I will put my all into it. Just as I did working for other employers, from there everything took off!
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a 20 year old hairstylist and student! I specialize in frontal wigs, but I also braid! I remember being four years old in the shop with my mom helping her braids the ends of her clients braids. This is where it all started for me, yes I was always around hair but it became a passion for me. It was a way for me to change up my look and still feel confident in whatever style or color I wore! I’m so proud of how much I’ve grown as a young stylist, because it all started from me having a few friends In high school that wanted box braids. Even though I’m high school I was still doing hair as a hobby my first job was at Chick-fil-A at 14years old! I was eager to start working after school like normal high schoolers. From then on I had about 4 other jobs before I came to the realization that what I was doing, wasn’t a god fit for me. I realized it was time for change even though till this day I’m scared of change, but change can open doors and opportunities that may be unimaginable to you! This step of change is how I started my business at 16years old, I ran into issues being so young many people didn’t take me seriously. Some people thought that I should give out a discount because “I am a kid”. Some mistakes I definitely made starting out was giving out discount! Personally I wanted to build my clientele and I knew my work would speak for its self, but with that people started to devalue my work! You know the saying “charge what your worth” that took me a while to realize but once I did that was a game changer for me. I started gaining the right clientele. I would like the world to know my business ! I call my business the HairDynasty! Dynasty because there’s much more to come keep a lookout!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a personal shoutout to my mom! Which I now may sound a bit of cliché but my mother is hard working woman who has molded me into the person I am today. Aside from me being her daughter she has taught the importance of business and entrepreneurship, even when I think I cannot achieve an idea I come up with she finds away to make me believe it’s possible. She’s invested in me from making sure I take one-on-classes to perfect my craft and while helping me through school! My mom is an immigrant who is so inspirational and shows me everyday that anything is possible with hard work and prayer! She’s a superwoman to me!
