We had the good fortune of connecting with Marketa DiStasi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marketa, what inspires you?
I am inspired by my children and children in general. The way they see the world with wonder and innocence is how we should all see it. Their imagination is endless and that is what our subscription box is all about. Although we feature a particular book that the costume is based on, I always love seeing children dressing up in the costume and accessories but changing the story around. They can imagine something new and fun and create an entire magical world. We constantly get emails and Instagram tags from our customers showcasing their children and how our monthly box inspired them, but these children really inspire us. It is absolutely amazing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our subscription box isn’t like any other. We are the only book club for children that not only gives your child a beautiful book every month, but brings the whole story to life. Our box includes a lovely picture book and a costume and accessories based on one of the main characters. It also includes crafts that coordinate with the book of the month, and an interactive card with questions and the challenge of the month! Your child will absolutely LOVE reading, imagining, and creating while dressing up in beautiful costumes over and over.

We try to pick books that are unusual or hidden gems that many people don’t hear about, which is a fairly exciting part of our job.

It took us many years to grow into the size we are now. Was it easy? Absolutely not. There were many hurdles on the road and we had to jump over all of them. It also doesn’t get easier with time as some people might think. The bigger business you have, the bigger problems you have to overcome. We are thriving and growing and will soon be adding another exciting new box into our LBW box club family.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are located right by Boulder so we would definitely take them to see the Flat Irons and hike up to the Arch. We would take a swim at the Boulder reservoir and eat our way through Pearl Street. One of our favorite places is Japango Sushi and The Boulder Cork where you can get the most delicious steak around! Another place to go is the Pearl Street Book store which we absolutely LOVE! Some other places we always take visitors to are the Garden of Gods, Mom’s Baking in Breckenridge which has the most delicious European pastries, Frisco Bay Marina and downtown Denver of course! Colorado has just so many places to explore and these are only a very few of our favorites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
That would be easy. The biggest shoutout would go to my husband, Tony. There wouldn’t be Little Bookish Wardrobe without his endless support and help. He is not only a co-owner of the Little Bookish Wardrobe but he is also an amazing father and a husband.
When I started LBW we had a 6 month old baby and not much savings. I wasn’t sure I could do it, but my husband kept pushing me toward the right direction, believing in me and my idea. He is the calm and managing part of the business owner, while I am the creative and always lost in her own imagination business owner.
We definitely make a fantastic team.
