We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Levengood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting our business was fueled by our passion for creativity and the challenge of building something from the ground up. We’ve always found the idea of creating a unique coffee company incredibly exciting and motivating. As coffee enthusiasts, we’ve always been fascinated by wild and rare coffees that most people haven’t had the chance to experience. Our goal was to share these extraordinary coffees from the world’s best producers with our community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what sets us apart is our commitment to offering the highest quality coffee and continually striving for improvement. We make deliberate decisions and maintain a clear vision of what we want our brand to represent. I believe people connect with our passion and clarity. It hasn’t been easy, there are challenges that arise daily, but we embrace pouring ourselves into something that we are so passionate about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of our favorite restaurants to go to are Basta and Barchetta. We moved here for the access to the outdoors, so we love taking people on adventures when they come to visit such as climbing, biking, or hiking. There are endless routes that are amazing and we always like trying something new.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have been so lucky to have such a strong community base that has shown us so much support over the years, which has made all the effort more than worth it. I always say we have the best customers in the world and they continue to blow me away with their kindness, talent, and humor everyday. Many of the people we have met through the shop have become friendships that will last a lifetime and it is so special to see others on our team have the same experience. We also wouldn’t be where we are without the support of our family either. They have supported us so much with reassurance and even a lot of manual labor as well.
