Meet Mauzie Mays | Owner of Mauzie’s Fine Jewelry

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mauzie Mays and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mauzie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I spent 11 years working for several prominent jewelers, where I gained valuable technical expertise and a deep understanding of the industry. Over time, I developed a strong desire to bring my own creative vision to life. Starting my own business gave me the opportunity to combine those technical skills with my passion for design, and to create a space where I could fully express my artistic approach to jewelry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background is in painting and metals, and I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in both. I draw inspiration from architecture, line, texture, and color-elements that naturally flow into the three-dimensional world of jewelry design. What I love most is working closely with clients to create pieces that reflect their individual stories and style. By really listening and observing the details- from the way they dress to the way they describe their lives- I’m able to design something meaningful, beautiful, and within their budget.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love every corner of Colorado, and I’d plan an adventure that shows off its best. We’d start in downtown LoHi, exploring historic buildings and discovering a groovy little gin martini bar. From there, we’d head up into the mountains, stopping in Morrison for a classic Bloody Mary at the Blue Cow before catching a show at Red Rocks—an unforgettable experience. Depending on the season, we’d either hit the slopes for skiing or head out on a beautiful hike.
Next, we’d venture south to one of my favorite hidden gems—Engler Canyon Ranch—where we’d document wild horses and enjoy incredible farm-to-table cuisine. On the way back, we’d stop in Pueblo to stroll the Riverwalk, then wrap up the journey with great food and a cold beer at Brews Alehouse. It’s the perfect blend of nature, culture, and Colorado charm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m incredibly grateful for my amazing team, our supportive community, and the loyal customers who’ve been with us over the past 20 years. None of this would be possible without them. I’m here because of their trust, encouragement, and unwavering support.
