We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg Mikesell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meg, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success is creating a brand where I can authentically be myself. When your brand genuinely reflects who you are, consistency comes naturally—and that consistency is what builds trust, loyalty, and long-term success in a small business!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is rooted in authenticity, intention, and confidence. What sets me apart is my willingness to trust my instincts and create from a place of honesty rather than perfection. I’m most proud of building something from the ground up by leaning into who I am and staying true to my vision.

Beauty school taught me the technical side of my craft, but it didn’t prepare me for running a business—that part I had to learn on my own. I planned Wild Babe Lash Co. for just two weeks before launching (call me crazy), and it ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that belief in yourself is everything. As a small business owner, you wear many hats, face challenges head-on, and learn to become your own biggest supporter. What I want the world to know is that success doesn’t come from having it all figured out—it comes from showing up, staying authentic, and trusting yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d give them the full Fort Collins experience! We’d start with drinks at Sugar Salt Sand or the Rio Grande, then head to DC Oakes or Krazy Karl’s for dinner. We’d grab dessert at Edison’s Ice Cream, and to top it all off, catch a movie at the Holiday Twin Drive-In, a classic Fort Collins experience that’s always a good time!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
AW Lashes has been a major part of my journey and growth. Being surrounded by a supportive community that genuinely believes in me gave me the confidence to step into opportunities early on in my career. Through AW Lashes, I was able to experience photoshoots, podcast features, tradeshows, and industry events that pushed me creatively and professionally. That encouragement and support helped shape the path I’m on today, including stepping into my role as Creative Director. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of a brand that truly invests in its people and believes in their growth.
