We had the good fortune of connecting with Micah Groenevelt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After finishing school, starting my own production company seemed like a natural step as a filmmaker. However, I quickly learned that running a business and being a filmmaker require two very different skill sets. Over four years of struggle and discovery, I found a deep love and passion for business. This journey has fueled my excitement not only for managing the logistics, margins, and client acquisition but also for the creative side—capturing the perfect shots, leading a team, and embracing every edit with enthusiasm.

I knew I wanted a business that took a different and more cinematic approach to the world of “video marketing”. With so much content being produced these days I kept one major rule for myself the whole time through: “What would I actually want to watch?”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am deeply passionate about creating art that resonates with people. To me, the best art carries a clear message, evokes emotion, and entertains. It took me a long time to feel confident enough in my abilities to create work that I knew could truly impact an audience—while never losing sight of the fact that the most important audience member is myself.

Over time, I’ve learned two essential lessons. First, if you work harder than the average person, you will improve and set yourself apart from the majority. Second, the more you focus on giving rather than indulging solely in your own work, the more success you’ll find and the more others will respond to what you create. Striking a healthy balance between pushing hard, loving your work, and generously sharing your time and ideas is challenging but essential.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to Boulder. Walk the city, eat some good food, grab a drink, and go for a hike. For me I’m perfectly content with a great conversation, a good whiskey, and perhaps an impromptu game of volleyball.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to Jeffrey Carabelos of Harmonic Alchemy Music Composition. As my closest friend, irreplaceable collaborator, and fellow visionary, I owe him so much of my growth and standards that I hold myself to.
