We had the good fortune of connecting with Micala Goerke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micala, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At Wild Spirit Botanicals we wanted to be a part of something that would create community and give people a chance to interact with beauty through blooms. We want to help others create their own gardening beauty and to interact in events that will bring beauty, creativity and wellness into their lives. We wanted to be a part of something that was local and inspirational for our community as well as fulfilling dreams for ourselves by doing something that we love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets apart Wild Spirit Botanicals is that we are organic and local. A background in interior design and a passion for artistry is leading us to a vision that creates beauty and aids others in shaping their own beauty. We are developing this community through events like, a porch market , wedding opportunities and we make available gifts for Colorado Springs to share to their family and friends through weekly bouquets. We believe that our dreams are being offered to others through blooms. Our flower gardens started, to promote spiritual and mental wellness through our continuing cancer story. They grew into a place that is shared with others through events like book clubs, bridal cut your own florals, small tea parties, tours with gardening tips and girls-night-out bouquet bars. Slowly it has became a business that would reach out to restaurant owners, office reception areas and couples for date night surprises. We want to grow into whatever ideas can meet the needs of the community and are looking forward to growth in all these areas.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Glen Eyrie – coffee shop and sitting outside visiting / tea room for a more formal event / definitely strolling the grounds and seeing the sheep Helen Hunt falls – a must see in town mountain experience
Lolley’s ice cream shop- oh my goodness it just all tastes fantastic and is GF and some vegan, a family owned business!
Broadmoor Waltz Club – best kept secret in town! Best date night ever. FREE dance lessons and then once you know the dances join the club for 6 balls a season and it costs less than going out to dinner 6 times a year. Why don’t more people know about this? We take guests to the Broadmoor for a walk around the lake with brunch.
Compassion International has the best tour or child advocacy and often some summer events that help realize what is really happening around the world.
Much Ado Boutique- offers online fashion tips and models clothing as well as a store front located inside Paris Market Vintage at the Promenade shops, Love supporting a local woman owned business!
Art Gallery 113 – Local artists with REAL talent
Outdoor jazz concerts at downtown church in the summer.
Top Golf- a bit pricey but a fantastic family time
Experimental gardens – two of them in town

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Floret Farms – It is through their books that the dream came alive for me that I could grow cut flowers in a small urban setting. Through their workshop and online classes I have been taught so much that it gave me the boost I needed to get started. Her IG posts are helpful and educational as well.

Blossoms and Branch Farm – Attending flower arranging workshops and market days here has helped me with growing tips. Her IG posts are a daily must view for inspiration and education.
