Meet Michael Diaz-Rivera | Owner/operator of a cannabis delivery and transport business. Advocate for the liberation of those harmed by the war on drugs as well as those currently incarcerated for partaking in cannabis.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Diaz-Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have set myself apart in the cannabis industry by offering delivery services for both medical and adult-use customers in Denver and Aurora, while also prioritizing excellent customer service and building genuine relationships with my dispensary partners and customers. However, my journey to get to this point was not easy, coming from an impoverished background and eventually making it to teaching and community organizing. I had to work hard to overcome my knowledge gaps and develop my business, and it was challenging to establish partnerships as a social equity operator.
Fortunately, I’ve received tremendous support from my community, including organizations like BIPOCANN, Minorities for Marijuana, Minority Cannabis Business Association, The Last Prisoner Project, and Leaf 411, to name a few. My partner and therapist have also helped me overcome mental challenges, while grant awards extended my financial runway.
As I continue to grow my business and hire my first delivery drivers, I’m learning the importance of being a good CEO and building a trustworthy reputation in the industry. I want people to know that with hard work and determination, we can all achieve the American Dream and improve our circumstances. That’s why I stand by the motto, “Better Days Are On The Way.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I’d want to show them the best time ever by taking them to some of my favorite stoner-friendly spots and community-oriented activities. We’d start off by grabbing some delicious food at Bourbon Grill, Areyto Puerto Rican Food, Welton St. Cafe, Stoner’s Pizza Joint or Ganja Gourmet. Then, we’d spend some time volunteering with organizations like 5280 Freedom School, Make a Chess Move, Dashr, or any other group that helps to uplift the community.
For some fun and exciting experiences, I’d take them to Nativ Hotel or somewhere more laid-back like Agave Shore. And of course, we’d make time for some cannabis consumption at some of Denver’s many cannabis-friendly spots.
Overall, my itinerary would reflect my love for my community and my commitment to supporting local businesses and organizations that are making a difference. I’m proud to be a part of this vibrant and dynamic community, and I love sharing it with others.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from so many people in my community. They have played a critical role in my success and the growth of my business. I want to give a special shoutout to Jarell Wall, the owner of Gentleman Quinns, who has been giving advice to me since the very beginning of my business journey. Chris Kemp of Arrow Wellness, Ernest Toney of Bipocann, Alison Bosworth and John Mccaskill of Quanto Inc, Jax & Nicole from the House of Fuego, Matthew Ockrim, Brittainy Lynn, The Peoples Ecosystem, and so many others have provided invaluable insights, advice, and support that have helped me to grow and thrive. I could go on and on about the love and support that I’ve received from my community, but I also want to give credit where credit is due. My mother’s sacrifices have laid the foundation for everything that I have achieved, and I am forever grateful to her for that.
