We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Gromicko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I love risk. I love risk because most people don’t. I just make sure that the costs of managing the risks I take are less than the profits those risks generate.
What should our readers know about your business?
You can always sucker someone into joining a trade association. But the real measure of success in a trade group is retention. I’m most proud that InterNACHI has 92% of the inspectors on planet earth and a 99.9+% renewal rate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them for a tour of the Inspection Museum in Niwot, Colorado. Everything in this world had to be inspected at one time or another and the history of this profession is very interesting.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To build a U.S. Department of Education-accredited college, we needed someone with the educational pedigrees necessary. I’m a high school dropout, so I knew it could never be me. But my brother Ben Gromicko has dozens of degrees and governmental credentials in education. I give him all the credit for becoming a real college with the same federal accreditations a Harvard and Yale.
