We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Bidegain and Maru Ulloa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole Bidegain and, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Most people are unaware that investing in a Mexican property is a simple and affordable process, in which you do not need to be a Mexican resident in order to invest. It is perfectly legal for a foreigner to own property in Mexico and fairly straightforward.

We are two realtors with all the pertinent knowhow in this industry.
Here in Merida, Yucatan, you can find everything from; beach properties, city homes and apartments, as well as vast land to build on
Merida is a true gem in the Yucatan Peninsula. People are very warm and welcoming, and it is always sunny in Merida.

Nicole is an American Peruvian foreigner, having bought various homes herself, she knows all the ins and outs and understands what it feels like moving into new country, and Maru is a Mexican born and raised with vast experience in the Real Estate business, together we devote the time and take care of your individual requests with dedication and honesty.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are, Nicole and Maru, two close friends that decided to pair up and start our own business, as we saw the need of personal advisers more than mere realtors, throughout the whole buying and renting process in Merida.

Anyone can be a realtor in Mexico, but not everyone makes the effort to study, take the real estate course and get the certification. We offer a trust worthy business with all the before mentioned certifications and ongoing courses. We are qualified bilingual professionals.

For us, at NB Real Estate, being a realtor is not just about showing properties, but about being able to give a sense of security, knowledge, dedication and interest in what the client is looking for.
We offer recommendations and tips to ensure the best possible outcomes in every transaction.
We do not consider our clients just that, we see them as our friends.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Arriving to Merida you can have dinner at Tatemar at la Isla Mall or in Maya de Asia at The Harbor Mall
.

Staying at a hotel or colonial home in Merida Centro is a must.

During the first day you can enjoy a hop on hop off experience on the “Turibus” tour to learn more about the city, later take a stroll while enjoying an ice cream along paseo Montejo at Sorbeteria Colon. At night there is a unique experience, the Pok Ta Pok: Representation of the Mayan Ball Game at the main plaza in downtown. The tradition of this ancient mayan sport is kept alive each Saturday night at 8:30 pm on Calle 60 in front of the Cathedral and Plaza Grande.
Have a delicious dinner with a magnificent centro view at Picheta’s rooftop.

Next day, you can go to Celestun and take a boat tour, where you can appreciate the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve with flocks of flamingos. Enjoy a seafood meal at the beach at Los Pampanos.

Another day, you may go and have enjoy the beach at Progreso, were you can have a drink at various restaurants, such as: Almadia or Crabster and walk the new Progreso Pier and ride the carrousel.

A must while visiting Merida is enjoying a refreshing swim at a Cenote, there are many options. A cenote is a type of underground cave or sinkhole that contains groundwater. Hacienda Mucuyche (a plantation home) has a great tour with two cenotes.

You may also choose between visiting a Mayan archaeological site like Ek-Balam or Uxmal, or beautifully-restored Mexican hacienda, Sotuta de Peon, were they show you the henequen process (the fibre of the agave plant, used in making sisal rope) Yucatan’s “green gold”.
Swim in the hacienda’s private cenote and enjoy a traditional Yucatecan meal before returning to Merida.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people in our lives, to whom we are thankful for every day. Starting with the encouragement of our friends and family, that believed in our work, started renting and buying properties from us and entrusting our knowledge and capacity throughout the whole process.

We would also like to thank the Merida realtor community, for the cordial support and amicable cooperation amongst us realtors.

Mainly, we would like to thank our clients, who gave us the opportunity to find them their forever homes and express our gratitude for always referring us.
