We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Hutchison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Family, friends, success, cultivating meaningful relationships. I’m not a work-o-holic, that’s why it was so important for me to find something I absolutely love doing that doesn’t feel like work. I feel like that is one major step in creating happiness in your own life. Being a Makeup Artist is such a treat for me because you have a lot of control over the projects you choose, the schedule you want, and are usually surrounded by THE coolest, most interesting open minded creatives you may have never met otherwise. Making sure my relationships are strong with my family and friends is also something that drives my happiness on a daily basis. I have always been very family oriented and take a big responsibility upon myself to be at all the special functions and events that I absolutely can. Some of them would say I’m the glue.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think my creativity sets me apart from others. This past year during quarantine I was so proud of myself for pushing myself by creating art I didn’t even think I was capable of. I got to where I am today by networking, always saying yes to as many projects as I can, and always bringing my A game. A lot of times you only get one chance to make an impression so it had better be a great one! One big thing I’ve learned along the way is that you can always be better, and you have to bring it at every level because if you don’t someone else surely will! Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to show my best friend around the city it would be a big mishmash of events. I like a bit of everything so we would definitely have to catch a show at Red Rocks, a sporting event downtown to support one of the home teams, The Denver Art Museum to catch the latest attraction, and end it with a Sunday Funday brunch on a rooftop patio brunch in the Rino district or in the Highlands.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My extremely supportive family and friends. They are always pushing me to do more and supporting me in all of my accolades. I also have the most supportive boyfriend who is always pushing me to do more, do my best, reach for the stars and talks me off the ledge when I need it. I couldn’t do life without the amazing people in mine.
