We had the good fortune of connecting with Melinda Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melinda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I was 20 years old, I found myself in a 6-week inpatient eating disorder program surrounded by amazing nurses, doctors and staff. One in particular, Cinnamon Hawks, truly inspired me. I wanted to be her when I ‘grew up’. So in the midst of my treatment, I set a deep intention: ‘when I am healthy enough, I am going to be the light that sits in other people’s darkest places to know their truth until they can know it for themselves.’
This was the beginning of my journey that led me from job to job, training to training.
The jobs seemed random – secretarial, bookkeeping, executive secretary, legal secretary, and paralegal. Little did I know that each of these would be part of building a foundation of experience and understanding for myself as an entrepreneur.
Then the trainings – so many and all self-serving. I was trying to find my way in the world, trying to feel stable internally, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Each training led me to my next level of wholeness. Each modality became one step closer to living a fully expressed life. And with every training, I had a new tool in my toolbox to share with others that were on the same path of healing.
So rather than a thought process to starting my business, it is as if my business and service to the world was guiding me, leading me through the various business and healing trainings I would need to successfully run my different businesses. Starting out as a sole practitioner massage therapist, I quickly jumped into owning 2 clinics with 15 therapists working for me. From there, I went into teaching massage, selling my practice, moving back into a private practice which over the last 13 years has morphed into an international intuitive coaching and clinical hypnotherapy practice working with people in 46 countries.
My thought process was actually a heart and inspiration process. I believe our inner knowing is always drawing to us the very next step to lead us to our greatest success!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Quantum Therapeutics offers specialized one on one coaching to empower transformation personally and globally. I offer a unique 3-fold approach to healing and transformation that 1) addresses unresolved trauma from the past and all the resulting reactivity; 2) teaches clients powerful tools to support their own healing process; and 3) promotes wholeness through deep emotional integration. The result of working in this way is exponential growth and moving beyond old patterns and stepping into the fullness of one’s life.
What I am most proud of to date, is the global reach of my practice through 46 countries. I attribute this not only to the powerful work that I do with people, but also, the incredible opportunities to study, speak and work with some of the best of the best in healing industry – Dr. Hew Len Ihaleakala, founder/teacher of Ho’Oponopono; Jon Gabriel, founder of The Gabriel Method; and Lynne McTaggart, American alternative medicine activist, lecturer, journalist, author, and publisher. From these individuals and many others, I have a unique and specialized approach to healing and transformation.
And what I am excited about is bringing all of this study of metaphysics and healing into my own teaching called The Highly Sensitive’s Thriving Guide. With over 10 years of study, I have compiled the best of all my trainings into a course designed to help people with highly sensitive/intuitive nervous systems navigate and be in the world with more ease. Because most people do not realize they are sensitive, often they come to me with other issues – anxiety, depression, feeling stuck or unmotivated. Talking about being sensitive/intuitive and energy is what brings me the most joy! And it is incredible to watch people’s lives open up in magical and expansive ways as they learn to better understand themselves and use their sensitivities as superpowers!
Because I am highly intuitive/empathic – getting to where I am in business was easy in that I have always felt guided and inspired. Not like having voices in my head telling me what I should or shouldn’t do, more like I have always paid attention to the opportunities that just ‘show up’. The best example is when I said to my partner that I wanted to teach massage and one week later I received a postcard in the mail asking if I was interested in being a massage instructor. Truly, I following my joy and my excitement. Whatever seemed fun, interesting or exciting to me – I did that. And it was only in looking back that I realized there was a distinct path from point A to my present that I didn’t realize was happening in the moment.
I have encountered challenges along the way and I have learned to priceless value of having support and accountability. And not just any support – well trained and high consciousness support. I had reached a plateau in my success and felt stuck, stagnant and bored. It was 2+ years ago that I leaned in hard to a women’s entrepreneurial coaching program that exponentially launched me through and past my own limitations and self-made obstacles. Since then, my practice has exponentially grown and I am thriving and loving being of high service to those who are ready to step into transformation!
What the world needs to know is that it doesn’t matter how long ago your individual trauma occurred – if it wasn’t addressed, it WILL wait for you and show up again and again and again. And when it does show up, there are powerful ways to move through and beyond events of the past so that you can step fully into the life that has been waiting for you!
And finally, I want the world to know that we are interconnected with the all of humanity – always! And this interconnection has a deep and profound influence on how we individually feel in this and in every moment. We are hard-wired to feel the collective ‘herd’ of humanity and we are often labeling the collective experience as ‘my experience’ or ‘my feelings’. I was in the Aurora theater the night of the shooting in 2012 and because of my training, I was able to feel the crowd, feel the energy of the shooter and recognize that the ‘heavy’ feeling in the room was not me. However, without this awareness/understanding, I would have said ‘here comes one of MY depressed moods – may as well go see a movie’. I truly believe this level of understanding would more than cut in half the collective angst and hostility that is fueling race wars, political hostility and overall upset in the world – leaving us individually and collectively in a deeper sense of calm and peace which will allow for the healing of our social wounding. Healing the chasm of separation starts within each and every one of us. When we remember we are part of the whole internally and externally, great and powerful things occur.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, my tour starts with a day drive through Glenwood Canyon and a glorious hike to Hanging Lake! Then off to the vapor caves in Glenwood and night stay at the Hotel Colorado. Next day we are off to Estes Park for a day of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and a night stay at the Stanley Hotel. Then a day drive south to the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado. Finally, we would head back to Denver for an evening at the Denver Center of Performing Arts to see the Colorado Symphony!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank Cynthia James, Jean Hendry, the entire leadership team and all the coaches of the Academy of Women Emerging (AWE). This incredible group of women are experts in empowering female entrepreneurs to reach their goals through an extraordinary program that is centered in supporting the individual as she builds a balanced foundation for herself and her business.
I also want to thank Jon Gabriel of The Gabriel Method for the opportunity to work with him, his community and support their transformational healing journeys.
