We had the good fortune of connecting with Omar Nunez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Omar, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a love for music and DJing. I started DJing at the age of 15, mostly small events at that time. Quickly, I started getting more and bigger events as well as playing in the nightlife scene such as nightclubs and bars. As my skill, talent, and understanding of the business grew, I wanted to bring something different to the market. That’s when I started Nufusion Productions. I wanted to fuse real talent and amazing services in a way that hadn’t been done before in the wedding and corporate event realm. Now, we offer talented DJ services, fun photo booth rentals, and amazing event lighting.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I really believe that our talent, dedication to great service, and professionalism sets us apart. Today, we have a great team, amazing clients and continue to strive to be the best. It hasn’t always been an easy road. Aside from growing my skill as a DJ, I had to learn the business itself. Needing to learn about everything that encompasses business was, and is sometimes still, a learning process. As a young entrepreneur I had to teach myself about LLCs, taxes, building a website, marketing, and pretty much everything that comes with building a business. Reading many books about business and asking mentors the right questions helped me get the understanding I needed. Not only are we trying to provide the best DJ and event service out there, we strive to provide the best customer service and professionalism, while still throwing a fun party.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are many amazing restaurants in the city, one of my favorites is El Chingon. You can never go wrong with some sight seeing, visiting the museum (which we like to do in any new city), or Meow Wolf. If we had enough time or a few days, we may go to the hot springs. You can also never go wrong with heading up the mountain for some snowboarding in the winter, or hiking in the summer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I were to list all the shoutouts, we’ll be here all day. In all seriousness, there have been many DJs in my life that have encouraged, supported and mentored me along the way. There are too many to list, but a here are a few; DJ Chonz, DJ Sabotage, Jay Jones, Tony V, and Brandon Lee. Aside from inspiration from the music community and DJs, the biggest support, encouragement and love will have to go to my wife, Valerie.
